Corpse summoners...

seems a bit extreme to me really, 20% melee damage (bows too), 20% spelldamage, both are very powerfull things.

.....errrm yep thats it, Prywen midgard lost all 6 of their relics (temporarily) to have fun with the corpse summoners and farm RP's. Of course being the dum trolls that we are, we got our patch numbers muddled up and did it a bit early :wall:

That story sounds a bit extreme. I don’t hope for the same situation around here. But they sure use strange tactics over there.

Corpse summoners will ruin this game long term, too many ways to exploit them and dominate an enemy realm without ever having to take the relics.

Not having read up on SI and classes/features (deliberately) , I haven't got a clue what this is about. Having gained my curiosity, can someone either explain about Corpse Summoners or throw me a link to somewhere that does :)

OK the whole system is a little wacky but it boils down to this, if the Mids have a keep in our frontier and they upgrade it to a certain level then they get a Corpse Summoner. Now any Mid that dies in the Albion frontier can /release right back into that keep, they don't get ressed as such but thier corpse gets left in the yard for a friendly resser to work his magic on. Basically it means the dirty filthy heathen middy scum never have to go home to Iceland, oh and those tree hugging bastards can get in on the act too ;)

I resent that!

Greenland please. :p

And I do agree with cHo on this one (even though it makes me gag to agree with an alb) I think that corpse summoners might make it the end for a lot of people.

What Chodax says. But I also believe that you (the albs) need to have one of the mids relics before they can get a corpse summoner in your frontier. Or isn’t that the point of the VN-thread?

From the Camelot Herald:

- If you take over an enemy's keep and that realm has at least one of your relics, if you upgrade the keep to level 10 it will spawn a corpse summoner NPC. If you die in PvP and type /transfercorpse "keep name" without the quotes your corpse will transfer to that keep, although you will still need to be resurrected once you get there. Note that enemy players can kill this NPC and if they do so, the /transfercorpse command will be unavailable to you for that keep until he respawns (in one hour).

Say mids got Caer Renaris, and they are in W.Swealand and die here, can they transfer corpse to Renaris? Or from mid/hib frontier to renaris. Or is it only if they die in Alb frontier they can get summoned to Renaris?

if CSs are more important than relics, they should´t implement it here. Relics are the essence of this game

When 200 enemy decide to park in your backyard for the power relics that is going to ruin the game for you, same for many Albs when the inevitable Mid horde sets up home in the Albion frontier. It will be fun for the attackers and damn hard work for the defenders, what bugs me more is that it becomes a war of occupation rather than a straight up fight for the relics. Alot of what will happen depends on how lame the people on this server want to be, if people settle for no relics and a permanent Corpse Summoner then this game will start to decline rapidly. Still, it will be interesting and I look forward to some pretty insane battles in the short term.

Looks like fun to me.......... though I'll probably retract that statement at a later date.

You can only have a corpes summoner if you dont have your own relic.

eg. Albs have mid relic - corpse summoners are then possible in the albion frontier to make the recovery of stolen mid relic easier.

If you take another realms relics you will end up facing huge RK door repair bills as hordes of invaders repeatedly throw themselves at your RK from the neighbouring frontier keep, most likey all res sick still and hence worth zero RP's.

The debate as to whether or not relic bonuses are greater than having a corpse summoner depend really on your rvr playstyle.

The longterm result will however be that realms will recover only their own relics negating having or facing an enemy with bonsues due to relics, and negating the worry of having large RK door bills due to a horde of invaders using a corpse summoner in their own realm.

Thats my opinion on mythics ideas.

it looks like the only possible way to kick people out of your fonteirs now is going to be large scale stealther raids on the cs keep, gak the cs lord and any ressers there very quickly

trying to attacka defended cs keep without assasins will probably be impossible, short of a 10-1 or worse numbers advantage

Awesome - this could be a lot of fun - I still want the Mid relics back tho - I mean not having any just looks bad to me :)

looking forward to endlessly throwing myself at the Alb gates too :)

This is in the next patch i take it - any ideas on an eta?

When I read the VN thread about this, I was killing myself laughing. Great lateral thinking and quite within the rules of the game. I think people who complain about great reverse thinking should be applauding it instead.

I think a lot of the changes lately are generally bad for RvR unless you have a massive zerg running around, and these are clearly the areas that Mythic have aimed their 'improvements' at.

Also, I think Mythic have lost the plot a little with their class balancing between realms for RvR. The one-class-at-a-time thing sounds reasonable until you realise that when one class gets improved or nerfed, it can be months before the balance is redressed, meaning you have a long unhappy period where your favourite character can be a lot less effective in RvR. In my case, 1.59 for dark spec SMs is a crushing blow.

(Will do a fullblown whine thread on this later, I've been watching the various changes very closely and tbh fairly unhappily with the way Mythic are taking the game).

EDIT: hit wrong button :/

Corpse Summoners are a good thing.

First there was the "unnoticed raids", like Hibs raided Grallarhorn Faste without the mids noticing until we picked up the relics, im glad this isn't possible anymore tbh, they implemented the messages and the upgraded guards for this.

But, it's basically impossible to do a relic raid now, the first keep you try to take is noticed, and the enemy will be there to defend, you will die anyway, and then it's all over.....

This is a solution to that problem, i.e. you could take Caer Renaris, upgrade it to lvl 10 for a Corpse Summoner and then lay siege on Castle Excalibur, should you die there, you can /transfercorpse Caer Renaris, get quite a few ressers there (will probably be buffbots too) and you have a relic force up again within 5-8 minutes, ready for attack, and doors in the same state as they were when the force died. And if you fail again, repeat :)

All-in-all i think it's a good thing, because atm no realm has a chance to take any relics, it's way too hard. :)

Oh, and you can kill the Corpse Summoner, takes 1 to 60 minutes to respawn (random) and it can't summon any corpses when it's in combat, so.... :)

When CS's come into play, it will be the end of DAoC for me. Will any decent new mmorpgs be around when this patch comes in. If its in the SI patch, Then i'll cancel my order of SI.
