Copy protected CD's

What's the deal with ripping copy protected cd's to mp3?

Jane's Addiction Strays is copy protected and even though I get an error for each track it successfully rips to mp3. That is, all apart from the last track which won't rip at all.

Is there any ripper that will get round this that anyone uses? I'm thinking of buying an mp3 playing stereo for the motor and this could really start to anoy me...

You've got a couple of options. First is to try making a cd image leaving off the first session and seeing if you can then rip and encode the cd image.

Alternatively attempt ripping using EAC turning off C2, you may also have to drop into burst mode, beaware that this will be slow as it'll be doing a lot of interpolation.

Or, get one of the Lite-On LTR drives. Reads through copy protected cd's like it wasn't. Classy.

Thats rather odd, i managed to rip it no problem at all using cdex.

Maybe the non dvd version has protection but the one with the live dvd doesnt for sure
