Ok, here goes:
In the past, movies and series have shown robots as evil beings. "Ooh, they'll all kill us!" and so forth. That was until recent years. TV shows, movies, all seem to advocate that robots can be our friends, allies and trusted partners.
Now here's what i believe is going on:
In the past, the USA was behind in robotics, while japan especially was in the forefront. This meant that hollywood needed to ensure that as many people as possible think "robots are evil!". That was until recent years. Now they've made a breakthrough in robotics, are aobut to launch more personal robotics to people and have to make sure that people think robots can be our friends, while some*coughjapanese*cough* robots can still be dangerous.
I'm on to something here, i know it!
