Ok.... I remember now, yeah I haven't been booted from CS, but, I used to have a shitty SB16PCI, and my comp would reboot at random moments, really annoying, sometimes 2 mins sometimes an hour.
My comp is a K6-2 450(clocked at 481),
64mb EDO(yeah yeah I know)
It did have a Riva 128 AGP 4mb(yes 8fps)
Even when unclocked it would reboot.
(it now has a Geforce 2 GTS 32mb AGP(yes more than 8fps) and a SB1024(And yes I am buying new RAM and CPU and Mboard))
Anyway that wouldn't have helped you, but I'd sure like to know why it kept rebooting.
Yo guys Valve are realeasing a new HL update ver 1.1.0.6
which will fix a lot of TFc things, but no mention of CS, of well... ALthough they have not said as much, you can expect this patch to stop peeps getting dropped whenever they get a little lagg and the server thinks they speeding.
Ok the problem I had with the SB16PCi was some months ago, before the CS server side patch.
And I have my comp overclocked at the mo. Is that gonna cause problems when I try to play (450 k6-2)(4.5x 100mhz) to (4.5x 112mhz)
thought it was just me it seemed to happen after i installed dx8. spent ages trying to uninstall and back back to 7. just hope they patch it soon otherwise i'm back to quake sad as it is !!!
zero mate what are you chatting about? and what is with the rebirth of clan hHc last night?
Anyways valve released another beta patch for HL the other day, and the new release is coming soon. You are all getting dropped because of the speed hack fix..it especially targets modem users.
directx 8.0a is trouble free on my system, I use a soundblaster live witht he lates liveware and a tnt2 with the official 6.50 reference drivers. It actually solved an issue I had with Roger Wilco and CS. Not saying it will work fine on your system, but for me its great.
