Gamespot are running a news article showing a comercial overview of the gaming market compiled by Piper Jaffray analysts. The report gives expected sales figures for the next gen consoles through to 2008, with Xbox 360 leading the pack with 19.6million projected unit sales, with the PS3 at 15million - taking into account the later release of the console. The numbers for the Revolution are less optomistic, with only 5million expected by 2008, with lagging sales rates.
Also predicted are increased sales of handheld consoles, with the PSP lagging ~3.5million sales behind the Nintendo GameBoy/DS lines by the end of 2005, however in following years sales are expected to be quiet even. An interesting aside of the article is a predicted upgrade to the PSP line, integrating a hard drive sometime in 2006.
All of this is ofcourse nothing but investor expectations, but non-the less quiet an interesting view(imo) of what may be to come. :touch:
