They had a large talk about this on LBC radio the other week, it's been blown out of proportion, what was said was that they would put it back up for a vote. Not that they would lift the ban.

Depends which audience they are talking to it seems - they told the hunt mob they would lift it but tell the general population that they will allow a free vote.

Hunting is an emotive issue - they should have calculated much earlier that its a votes loser to bring it back - the majority are against it even in the countryside.

The hunting ban means jack diddly shit to the poeple I know who do it. I don't feel the ban should ever have been put in place but it's just covering old ground to go back and undo it. Just leave it and get on with sorting out stuff that matters.

They have been saying this for absolutely years! they'll remove the hunting ban beause
a.) It's a bad law that doesn't work,
b.) Didn't stop anything as there are more hunts now than before.
c.) Was the result of new Labour tossers indulging in their war against the perceived evil Conservative voters that live in villages and shire towns up and down England.

Also the toss pots in the cities and large towns can go to hell and should leave us alone thank you very much, you don't live here, you don't know how to life works outside in rural areas, and think that the countryside is a holiday destination, resort or some magical perfect place where everything is green and quaint etc, its a place many people try and struggle to make a living.

That was always the most bogus arguement - guess what - the majority of people in the countryside dont want it either.

Yeah if you want to control fox numbers then shoot them, the hunt is not a efficient way of controlling fox numbers, it's a blood sport and nothing more. The hunts have not stopped by all accounts anyway, so does it really matter?

Does a majority really support a hunting ban? Most people I think are ambivalent.

Frankly if you care about 100 foxes/year or whatever the number is, then you probably are a sad stupid tosspot who has no clue about the world.

Most people dont like animal cruelty - if your a person who does you could be on the fast-track to being a serial killer so grats :p

You probably consume more than 300 different animals bodily products a year for your own enjoyment/satisfaction : Animals bred for no other purpose than your enjoyment and living and killing in horrible conditions.

The only non-hypocrites on fox hunting are vegans.

Let's not even get into child starvation in Africa, economic slavery or the rape of the rest of the world by developed economies under our tacit approval.

FOX HUNTINGGGGGGGGGG ITS BAAAAAAAD.

There do you feel better now?

Give up your car, your daily meat and animal products and I might think you actually give a shit rather than just being a braindead zombie who wants to protect the cute fluffy animuuuls.

By your logic we should bring back bear baiting and dog fights because we eat meat - seriously :p

We have legislation to control how animals are killed in an abbatoir rather than ripped to pieces by dogs like the fox.

People who enjoy watching animal cruelty are frankly sub-human in my book.

At what point have I advocated or encouraged cruelty to animals?

My problem is the hypocritical nature, and all round stupidity of the anti fox hunting people.

Classic Labour nanny state intervention. The Conservatives should repeal the hunting ban, good on em, and a load of other bullshit laws too while they're at it.

Just because I don't want to ride around on a horse chasing foxes, doesnt mean I want to stop anyone else from doing it.

FOX HUNTINGGGGGGGGGG ITS BAAAAAAAD.

Never should a lesser of two evils be decriminalised on that merit alone, otherwise realistically there'd only ever be one law...

Not sure what I think of this to be honest other then that I expect the covnservatives to push their policies a little stronger then before. While they aren't the only party in the running, they'd have to release something monumentally stupid for labour to get back into government and my mistrust of the masses leads me to believe those are the only two parties who will have a chance of getting into power for a number of years to come... it's the countries fault but nonetheless, our democratic way of voting, coupled with labours inadequacies is ensuring the success of the conservatives, even with whatever stupid policies they intend to release.

Classic reflex response - its a stupid arguement that every time the State says you cant do something its being a 'nanny state' - the majority of laws are there for the benefit of society like the ones against murder.

Edit - it was in Labours Manifesto - people voted for them - democracy at work like it or not.

Err, sorry, why is fox hunting bad? Because you say so?

The fox dies! Sometimes. Oh my God!! And it lives a life, and maybe kills some chickens, or lambs, or pheasants, and then some people on horseback chase it and the lead dog gets hold of it and it's dead in a minute.

And the chicken hatches it egg, grows up in the dark, with thousands of other chickens, pecks at it's own shit while stuck in cage with no room to move and stands on rails of a cage so it cant even touch the earth. And six to eight weeks later its dead, pumped up full of water and on sale to you.

Go buy some Mcnuggets you bloody hypocrites.

I suppose we should view it like bull-fighting in Spain - part of our culture. However the fact that fox-hunting is practised by tosspots in red coats doesn't do the "sport's" image any favours.

I do struggle to see the cruelty though, we're talking about a few foxes here.

Surely it's not just about the quantity of foxes? Even if it was only one fox it would still be cruelty.

(Disclaimer: I am not joining this debate or picking a side)

I for one respect foxes, in same way i respect a wolf, tiger, lion. Of course our westernised system of eating meat makes it difficult to go out and kill your own animals - but I for one would. Its a minor issue sure, but it is a big "Fuck You" to the tory arselickers, and that alone is reason enough :)
