hi, I currently play the US servers for daoc, I have 8Meg adsl from Bulldog.
I use a linksys wireless router, but I dont use the wireless part for daoc.

Sometimes when im ingame, I will get 'lag' but its not the normal delay lag, I can type and cast without any delays, but my player and mob positions dont update, everyone stays were they are even tho they are not really in that position anymore. I even see them casting and fighting styles etc, but I dont see a change in their position until later on.. any ideas on the problem? Very annoying in rvr ;)

If i remember, the chat stuff is handled by a different process/server could be wrong or thinking of another game, but that could explain it - if your latency to one of the servers is worse than the other.

Must be a different game you're thinking of.

Or you're partly right. The DAoC 'servers' are basically networks of clustered servers. (Not to be confused with clustering the servers as Mythic is doing, which is clustering the clusters.)

In the cluster you got the master server(s), the zoneservers and (possibly, this could also be handled by the masterserver) the chatserver.

Now, if there'd be lag it would either be caused by something between your computer and the server, but this would also affect chat & gameplay mechanisms.
If there was lag inside the cluster between the mainserver and the zoneserver, then, it would affect everyone within the realm.

Now, that's latency we're talking. It could, however, be possible that packets are just getting lost and not getting resent (though, this would most likely caused a connection reset and cause an LD, since DAoC doesn't use the UDP protocol), so in theory it could be possible that the movement packets got lost, or maybe got mangled.

Hmm.. Press WindowsSign+Pause, go tot he device manager, then to your network adapter, and double click it and go to its 'Advanced' pane (if it has one), check if there's some kind of turbo and/or checksumming option there. Turn it off.
