Connecting to Servers

Hi, I just bought Quake3 Arena, downloaded Gamespy and thought I was ready to play. However, I don't seem to be able to connect to the servers. What patches are REQUIRED in order to connect, what else do I need, any tips?
Also, is "Quake III Arena" the correct game, or do I need "Quake III Team Arena" to play multiplayer on Barrysworld?

Hi,
thanks for this, but does this mean I need to download/install both the g & h patch to be able to play on barrysworld....that's what I wasn't sure about.....the g patch is 18MB.....that would take quite a while ;o)

games patches

For patches, I pick up a copy of PC gamer magazine, as the cover mount dvd has the most recent patches for pretty much all the poular games. It can lag for a month (like when the new HL + CS patches came out), but it's a whole lot easier than trying to download.
I think that the cD version also has it...

Yur, u at least need the 127g patch, the 'h' is just a tiny update on the 'g', fixing some bugs ... (supposedly)
