Sorry, i know this is not the right place to post a problem but any help would be greatly appreciated!

To cut it short.....
I can connect to my isp but i cannot do anything internet related (ping ppl, servers or view webpages, nothing)
Its the same with all isps i have tried!

I have removed and reinstalled isdn card/drivers and removed all unecessary internet software (firewalls etc)...no change

another strange thing..
whenever i type a web address in ie, page cannot be displayed and every webpage address has a prefix before it in the address box (http:///? www.barrysworld.com for instance)
all my ports are being used apparently (

I have another machine sharing the ISDN line (which works fine).

I've asked a few mates for any help but we cant seem to find the problem

Im running an athlon 850Mhz, win98, with a 'pogo ISDN card' (cheap :) and im with BT

If anyone has any ideas could they plz get back to me
Thanks

James

hmmm, does sound like a firewall though :(

Have you tried allowing everything on the firewall and then unistalling it?

I have another machine sharing the ISDN line (which works fine)

So there is no problem with the line.

Sorry to be a pain but I would still say its a software thing.

I have a similar problem occasionally on ADSL.

Sometimes I will loose connection to everything, IRC, ICQ, Webpages, CS etc..

I will still be connected, and I can send, just I cant receive....

Whenever this happens and I try to use the bandwith my Firewall reports an ICMP Unreachable alert of some sort.

The firewall doesnt affect this problem, with or without it, it sometimes happens...

Thankfully it doesnt happen often, but it would be nice to know what it is all about :)
