Well for those of us who have ever installed the various glamour packs or similar this new patch is a nightmare, I'm currently unable to play tribes because of my inv skin. I mean ffs they could have been a little more intelligent and just disallowed changing the skins etc on the important parts of the game. Going to have to reinstall tribes now, then my scripts (legal), configure up ....... arrghhh
Yes Mac ive had similar probs, half of my skins, which are in no way modified models were complained about whenever i tried to join a server.
I completely reinstalled and copied my config over only to find that for some reason half of my scripts became disabled, ones that particularly annoyed me as they changed my in game views and for some reason my reticles went out of position and i had to spend an age editing them.
I then eventually got tribes working not too badly but after one reconnection to a server it started complaining of the flarmor.dts (which is the female light armour). I found this bloody annoying as the only skins in there were the ones taht came with the game, so yet again i had to do a complete reinstall.
And tbh im not particularly pleased about losing my red mines or chaingun.dts either:<

Nothing in the patch affects anything 'vanilla' (i.e. original install or subsequent patches). When you make any modifications to your setup which include altering base files you should be aware that they may subsequently need to be altered back to be compatible with future upgrades to the game. I can think of no better reason for making a patch compulsory than to prevent cheating. I am sure Dynamix wanted to avoid this and retain full backward compatibility but the situation had become unacceptable.
If you need any help, drop into #scripting on irc and we'll do what we can.
I for one think the new patch will be a god send..
If you go to some sites and see exactly what you can do with a rts file..like make flags 30ft high mines glow red - chaingun.rtc which makes your chaingun aim imporve no end and theres turrets you can make them twice as big so there easy to see..
even tho i loved the glamour pack if this patch stops people using rts files for cheating then im all for it..
With scripts etc the game as gone out of control
I for one admit using jump.cs but i do not see this as cheating just an aid to save ya tapping seven bells of crap out of a button
Anways - if it makes HH and cF,s chaingunning less acurate then Woohooo theres hope fot us yet..
I Just wish they would stop this disc mining as its not very nice
they should make it so the mine takes a few secs to activate )
The UKTL are glad that the playing field has been leveled again.
Instead of people being able to see mines half a mile away, perhaps now we'll see more people blown up at flag points as they come in for a fast grab.
SieFly,
I myself do not use any glamour pack or chaingun scripts but I do use the jump.cs and several other features of presto and writers, trying to shoot at someone and being able to ski is tricky enough as it is.
