I have a sneaky supision that i was sold a 1.2 athlon that was pre overclocked to make it up to 1.4. Obviously they sold it to me saying it was a 1.4.

I'm not too great with this bios thing.... how would i find out if it was overclocked and how would i find out what the original speed was?

I have got this bios prob prgramme (Asus A7M266 DDR (Socket A) mobo) i was looking at the setting and it said: max speed 1200, actually speed 1400 - have they gone and done the dirty on me?

Best thing to do would be to take off the case and remove the fan from your CPU (not hard). You will then be able to look at the top of the CPU to see if the bridges have been joined. If they have it has been overclocked.

If it has not you will see some small dots like this - :::::

If the bridges have been joined, probably with solder or a conductive pencil, it will look like this - |||||

Found out yet? I would be interested to know if it was. BTW, where did you buy it from? I doubt it is but what makes you think it could be?
