OK - building new PC this summer (when back from holiday).

Quick question:

Geforce 2 MXs

1) What is with the MX200 and MX400? The 200s seem cheaper than standard MXs and 400s are more so.

2) DDR memory? Tug said it was crap, is it?

rite, DDR ram on an MX means 64 bit memory bus, which is wank0r, so you want an SDRAM MX which uses 128bit mem bus for nuff higher bandwidth an' tin'

MX400 is basically an old stylee MX... MX200 is cheap shit to replace TNT2 so buy a 400

Hmm think you'll find that DDR version is higher bandwidth..hence why they use it with the new Tbirds mobos.

However you don't tend to notice it unless you go to higher res.

Actually, I think you'll find the 64bit mem bus and DDR on the MX vs 128bit bus and SDRAM shows the DDR comin' slower as a general roooool

DDR on mobo's is @ same mem bus as SDRAM hence performance increase non? Oui

Yup. U want an SDRAM MX or MX400.

There's no real difference between the two in terms of performance. MX200s are shit. DDR is faster memory but on MXs they half the bus if you use DDR so it actually performs a little worse. Especially since SDRAM ones tend to use higher clocked memory.

Picked up a Kyro 2 64 Meg the other day, was a bit dubious because of its Power VR links, but all in all i'm well impressed with it.

Goes nice with a 900 Duron and cheap to boot.
Rite, gonna get the conductive ink out, unlock this chip and see wot happens......

yeah, but this is kinda goldy and shiney and has a fuckoff front panel too.... and comes with fuckloads of software - which I think overall is worth more than they are selling the card for anyway. (Cubase/Cubasis is in there, which I think is worth fuck loads??)

Yeh, I posted a link to the LE review a while ago I think. 70 dollars for a Radeon DDR basically. Better value than any MX or Kyro I've heard of
