The BBC have a report on three games created by researchers at McGill University in Quebec, Canada which are designed to increase players self-esteem.

The games include EyeSpy: The Matrix, where players are asked to search for a single smiling face in a matrix of 15 frowning faces. The idea behind this is to focus the players on positive feedback rather than negative.

Each game puts the focus on postive rather than negative feedback, which researchers hope will have a long term effect on the player.

"These self-esteem games, while probably not appropriate for everyone, certainly add to the methods available to people. And, because high self-esteem tends to be a 'virtuous' cycle, there's every possibility that any gains might be long lasting."

Moving aside from the "doctors" view, what do you think? Can playing (real) games long term raise your self-esteem?

The full report can be seen here.
