I'm a little upset.

My beta invite came through like everyone else and so I clicked on the Warhammer site to register. I accidentally clicked the wrong button to agree to the terms and lost the acceptance. At the time my sick baby son was sat on my lap and fidgeted as I clicked and I hit "No" instead of "Yes".

Obviously, terrified, I try and refresh and get the agreement back and it's gone. The email invite is a no-reply so the only option I have is to pm IainC on Only-WAR to ask for help.

Bear in mind all that I've done is click one button incorrectly slightly to the left of the button I should have clicked. I read and re-read the agreement to ensure I'd absorbed all of the information and understood exactly what I was agreeing to but have accidentally selected the wrong option. I am not a journalist nor do I work for the games industry.

I've been told that there is no room for maouever on this and that's that. GOA will not reissue my flag under any circumstances. So I win a spot in a competition fair and square and like most I'm, delighted to have this prize but now because of a single mistake with my mouse I will now be denied beta access for good.

Exactly what do I do? I'm incredibly upset (this isn't a flame so please don't delete this) especially as I was so careful to read the agreement. How hard would it be to reissue the flag now that I've explained my mistake? Please, anyone else who's won this be extra careful. Looks like I won but now I'm a loser.

I can't tell you how gutted I am after I worked so hard on my story, waited patiently for the result and then wait patiently for the invite. I can't believe there is no help for me and that GOA, after all of my efforts, will not allow me access because of a tiny mistake when logging in. I'm so upset I don't know what to do about it.

Please, please be careful.

Thanks.

A basically 'read everything before you mindlessly click thru' situation

I agree it IS frusrating but the NDA is techically the contract and you basically rpped it up by saying 'no', therefore throwing the key away.. Legaly speaking it's your own falut, but i'm not exactally guilty of mindless clicking thru things before ive had junk on my system I had to format to get rid of...

READ EVERYTHING AND SLOW DOWN, otherwise like poor Mal here you'll throw away your chance to get in

I already said how sorry I am at Only-WAR (well, I tried to tell you anyways, seems I couldn't find the words to do so anyways... but then again, I've always sucked in saying sorry :) ) so I won't write much words in here.

All I'm gonna say is: I blame Tzeentch! (and Malekith)

Like I said, I was careful and I read the agreement word for word. Considering I'd alreadyread the NDA, and agreed to accept it I was surprised at the sudden dialogue box that followed. It asked me a second time to confirm that I wasn't in the games industry or a journalist and the yes was right instead of left. Like I said before my son was wrigiling about on my lap trying to get down at the moment I fatefully chose to click. It was slight careless but please understand this was not me scrolling like crazy in a mad frenzy to access the beta. It was a slip and all the more horrifying as a result.

My view is that Iain's response is akin to those I've recied from the likes of Blizzard or SOE in the past and I was under the impression that these guys were different and that this would be a new kind of gaming experience. It would appear that I might be wrong about that. In my view it's ridiculous and could be easily resolved. I had no idea some binding contract would flash up the moment I logged on. Please sort this and prove that you are better than the rest please GOA.

That does sound very harsh indeed! someone help him out.... come on its not like he's broken NDA or anything like that, he was nudged and clicked the wrong button, no need to punish him for that.

though that being a good song, NEVER BLAME ANYTHING ON THE BOOGEY!!! the boogey just rocks ;)

and at mallin: yes, I know it sucks for you; but I also hope you understand IainC's probably bound with his hands behind his back in this case. It's a sad, sad thing (almost as sad as war ;) ) and I do believe many people would love to help you out, but they probably just can't. (for some reason I don't know myself anyways)

Like I said on Only-WAR, this is the perfect opportunity for GOA to prove they are better than the rest because they aren't robots who are unhelpful and don't care. I don't believe that is the case but I earnt my beta spot and I believe I should be helped. But also I felt I should post to warn others to be careful.

Done.

Mallin - I understand your concerns very well, believe me, but I have closed the thread to avoid any unnecessary additional inflammation of your situation. IainC is a moderator in this forum and so he can reply here ( mods can reply to closed threads) or he can message you directly if he chooses to. He may not do so, of course, as that is his prerogative.

I hope you understand.

Hello Mallin. As you know I've already discussed this with you via PMs on Only-WAR but just for the record and so that others who have wandered into this thread understand what the situation is I'll briefly explain here as well.

If you dig around a little, you'll find that you aren't the first one to make this mistake and I very much doubt that you will be the last. Each of those people before you - and all of them after you - have had to face the fact that in this very specific instance, where you flag yourself as games industry or press and thereby invalidate your beta invite, we have absolutely no wiggle room at all. Neither myself nor any of the staff at GOA can reverse this for you.

it isn't just a matter of policy, if it were we would certainly be able to deal with this on a case by case basis, but it is an operational impossibility. As things stand, you are still an invited beta tester, however you will not be able to enter the beta until the time comes when press and games industry professionals are allowed in. This will happen in due time and I hope that you can curb your disappointment enough to look forward to that time.

If there were anything I could do to sort this out then I would have offered you that option when you first contacted me, as it is however that is not an possible.
