Company car opt out?

I've been looking at all the main dealer deals, and they are not ideal. (That is probably the worst sentence I've written this week)
The problem is that I do 40/50K PA. Most of the deals allow 10K then charge per mile afterwards, upto 10p per mile. This then makes the deal shit.
Anybody else got the same problem, or found a solution.

My alternative is to buy second hand with low mileage, ideally <20k.

I'm looking in the BMW/Merc/Lexus/Jag market. Need speed, safety and comfort for motorway munching.

At the moment I have a 323iSE, but the tax laws are making it more efficient to not have a company car. The company will pay me a handsome allowance to buy my own, most company car drivers are "opting out" to save tax. I will be saving hundreds every month.

I would love to buy something super quick, but common sense prevails unfortunately.

I opted out years ago, good job too when the company abolished it

Why don't you make the company an offer on the Bimmer.

Its a LEX car, and has just short of 100K on the clock (this will be 130k ish by end of lease)
They will sell it and have asked £16k, I think not.
I've got until May at the very latest to change, but with new cars taking 2/3 months to arrive I have to at least start looking around.
