meh, eat your heart out Stratford.

Our 2012 opening ceremony? If its anything as crap as our bit at the Beijing closing ceremony its going to be a national embarassment.

It is a shame. I think the commonwealth games could have been very good for India as a country. Apparently they were looking at this as a platform for a bid for a future olympics.

Can't beleive that people are pulling out because of this, surely they should be able to go and live in the wilderness as athletes? god.

As an ex athelete commented on sky the other day, considering the living conditions of most people in India, some athletes should just shut up and compete. If they want to stay elsewhere then they can put themselves up.

Did you see the state of those sinks? I'm pretty sure I've caught at least 4 different diseases just from looking at it.

I think if an athlete doesn't want to live in a filthy scumpit of an apartment for 2 weeks why should they? Book another hotel or don't go. Their choice. But India is failing massively. If you're going to host a major international sporting event, you have to realise that your guests don't want to live as your indiginous population does.

It is a cultural thing, just like vuvuzelas. I think all the athletes should be forced to live in a filthy hovel for 2 weeks. :D

I'm sorry , but that's just one flooded bathroom, a dirty staircase and a
stained sink..all in one day to fix for one guy.
Anyone can go around any new build and find unsightly areas which just need a clean up.
That saying a collapsed bridge means I wouldn't actually go IN anything
that was built form..er bricks.
You can imagine the scene ..'NO NO NO, the cement is to be going in the
outside bricks only, where it can be seen!'

the village the athletes have to stay in looks 3rd world!

But isn't India still considered to be a third world country? Not being too up to date on what is politically correct these days I maybe incorrect or guilty of upsetting somebody...

With a middle class of something like 300 million people it can't really be considered a 3rd world country anymore, they are actually a rising economic power now and will be a top 10 economic country within the 5 years based on current growth.

India has something like a billion people, most of them are in extreme poverty. Go away from the cities, and the new IT millionaires, and India is a third world country.

The fucking games aren't out there though, they are in the middle of a massively rich city! :p

2012 will still be cringe-worthy (think Tesco Employee Day Out)...but at least there won't be dead spiders in the sink, poo on the floor, broken bridges, & roadworks on the middle of the athletics track
