Coming home to UK servers

Greetings to you all.

Many years ago, when DAoC was originally released I imported it from the US and joined many global friends on the US servers.

I am finally considering cancelling my US account and coming home to a UK server..

I would consider myself a frustrated hardcore player. I have 5 lvl 50s on the US servers and love to RvR but.. as you can imagine, I often miss PvE and RvR raids due to the timezone difference. With TOA this as just got more and more frustrating so..

My question to you guys is, are there any serious RvR guilds out there that are looking to recruit a lost UKer. I play most days from 7-11 and large chunks of the weekend.

Realm and class is not a particular priority for me, the most important thing is to find some nice people who "want me" and can motivate me to do the grind once more. I'm not looking for PLing, I'm looking for a purpose.

Toons I have played at 50:

Hib - Enchanter (mana), Champion (LW), Ranger, Nightshade
Mid - Shaman (cave)

Anyone?

<hugs>

Are you sure you want to give up the decent CS, better servers and faster patches for some extremely poor CS and slow fix times?

Yeah, I agree with these guys above. If you're prepared to give up the better service Mythic has to offer, for lousy customer support (as in, none), ZERO communication with the player base and lots of billing system cock-ups, then you're welcome.

My advice ? Stay where you are, or move on to another game.

Well thanks for the advice guys, sorry to hear that it's so bad here.

I haven't given this up just yet, I'll wait and see if I get any different responses.

Anyone love it here? :eek7:

I can tell you one thing.

Time-Zones make a huge difference, playing on US time-zones is alot more of a pain in the ass than anything europe has to put up with.

And FreddysHouse has ALOT of whiners, who make things sound alot worse than they really are.

having played on the US servers for about a year I don't see much difference here in terms of customer support or patching. In fact having a delay in patching is sometimes an advantage (you get to know what's coming and plan for it). Most of the people recommending that you stay on the US servers will be people who haven't played there and think it's all roses. There's no delay when you /appeal over here, since the command does sod all! cant' get better than that :) Well I'd rather have rightnow (EU support tool) than /appeal and waiting a few hours just to be told they can do anything anyway..

You got hit by a barrage of whines there. Subs haven't always been handled well but I've never found the support to be a problem.

Time zones are a problem - I found that in EQ even everyone was on the same servers.

For guilds, you might be better off approaching them directly. Many will have entry requirements - some RvR guilds will only even look at you if you're already 50 with classes that they need and can fit in with their play schedule. It will vary from guild to guild, though.

DAoC US >>> DAoC EU in pretty much every senario except time zones. Seriously, GOA's service is extremely poor but more frustrating is the lack of information from them and it is something that they have been promising to improve for over 2 years. If you can get past that then give Prydwen server and Hibernia a try. With the /level 30 command there you will find people to exp with if you can stomach soloing yourself to 30.

We didn't have loads of bugs?!?! There was me thinking that GOA had to make a number of hotfix's for ML's because 100's of people were failing on bugged sections night after night. U.S. may have beta tested it for us but we still got a very buggy version in retail and denying that fact doesn't make it any less true.

Lack of info? How about false info? :p

Germany's GM makes an announcement that they've cocked up the subs pages, they're sorry and they'll be up soon. The new English GM tells us it's up and nothing's wrong as it works for him "perfectly".

Go figure. :m00:

we did miss the 1.66 fun thou

The flip side of that is the delay while we waited for 1.66 to be translated. How soon could ToA have shipped otherwise? Sure a few less bugs is nice but there was a price to be paid for that as well. GOA have mis-managed DAoC EU since day one, they are a law unto themselves and even when they do acknowledge that they have messed up they then proceed to run the service as before. The only lesson GOA have learnt in 2 years is from the whole hacking incident last year, apart from that they just bury thier heads in the sand.

GOA doesn't make hotfix's for EU servers. They don't own the source code. It's Mythic's job.
GOA just tells Mythic when there is a bug and then Mythic makes a hotfix or a patch and send it to GOA who put it on the EU servers. Most of the software bugs on EU servers come from Mythic and not from GOA.

Which means what exactly? Req was still here telling us nothing was wrong as he could access them perfectly...

You posted that at 05:57 PM today.
A GOA GM said at 01:57 PM today that they are aware of the billing issues.
