Combatting cheaters

is there any way to stop these ppl on the cs servers?
each time i play, there is always someone who gets me in the head, im behind a damn wall, he cant see me, he jumps out and hits me in the head, how does he do it? surely this person is cheating.

1 other matter, im behind a crate, no one knows where i am, i start getting shot thru the crate(no one knows where i am so how can they have perfect aim and kill me when im not in their line of sight)

Sometimes these events are flukes, or a person with mad skillz playing. Some crates always have people camping behind them, so you can expect it.
Get a copy of HalfIRC, and go to #bwadmins from it if you think someone is cheating. Then they can deal with it...

Yeah, what ItchyTrigaFinga said. Take dust for example, i was playing a round on dust as CT over the weekend. It got to the point were cts were holding the main passage way - ts were camping. Coming from the CT end going out into the sunlight on t side, you'd expect ts to be camping behind or on crates to the left, far end of the map to the left maybe with awp. On the right, you expect the same: Ts on or behind the crates, and crotched behind the corner of the wall. Get it?


Knowing these camping points i fired from well inside the main area of the passage way aming for that corner to the right, or to hit the people on top or behind crate also to the right.


About 2 seconds later some one on t cried out 'WTF?? someone hit me through the wall' Bloody wall hack etc etc...'

The thing is bullets can go through walls crates floors etc.... lame? Maybe. I was getting bored of their camping.

I guess something like that.... (well not quite that bad) happened. People know prime camping spots and will shoot through crates, for example. If they managed to kill you without knowing you were there, i expect it was a fluke. Remember, headshots take off more damage, so if a guy is spraying ammo through a wall/crate and a bullet hits your head then that is the shot that is likely to kill you.

So not necessarily cheating. Of course if a i was at ct spawn with an awp and hit a t camping somewhere.... i would call that cheating

best one on dust is if you see someone duck behind a crate under the bridge, i usually just keep firing at the crate untill the player dies or moves, a lot of players know you can shoot through doors and crates, i do it myself, if i think someone is camping behind a door or a box ill shoot through it a couple of times,

if you suspect someone of wallhacking, when you die follow them around and watch them, you can easy tell if they are wallhacking,
some maps are better than others for spotting a wallhack, the best map to find these lamers is Estate, there was one player shooting ppl with a DE from behind a closed window in the house, in the end the whole T team was chasing him with knives and flashing there flashlights, was one of the funniest things i have seen in CS, 4-5 Ts chasing there own cheating player around the map stabbing, flashing & bombing him, shouting for a ct to shoot him, heh

hopefully 1.3 will put a stop to it, for a while.

i still think PB should be on all the servers, yeah i know it doesnt pick up every cheat, but i remeber a post from the gameplay forum, where someone had pasted a log from PB showing all the players names and won id's who had been caught cheating using open gl hack etc, it was a good way of naming and shaming them.

you could do that on barrys, every week post the logs of players who have been caught cheating.

just a thought, dont know how hard PB is to run or what extra work it would be for someone, as i said just a thought.

PB was tested & wasn't stable enough to justify the supposed protection it provides

It really annoys me when i get accused of cheating just because i

1) Use sound to position people
2) know the maps
3) Can reflex aim to someones head
4) Dont wear an "elite clan's" tag

As soon as i get 2 or 3 headshots in a row, its "Fck off you aimbotter" etc.
Just because you are a newb whose only been playing for 2 months doesnt mean everyone else is. (thats not directed at anyone here specifically, its directed at everyone who shouts CHEAT after someone more skilled than them kills them).

true that, i mean, im not exactly the best player at CS, but i have improved over the weeks.
I usually do crap the first round, then go kill everyone off whilst the rest of the team is dead, then i get called "cheat" too.
I mean, ive been playing cs for around 3.5 weeks now, and these ppl who have been playing for over 5 months get p1ssed because you take them out so easily.

Anyways, after getting killed and you are spectating, you can follow your enemy round to see how they move, where they usually go and then you know where to go, and how to kill them. Just because you look at these issues and think up tactics on how to take them down, you get accused.

damn hard to get 1.3 off a server these few days too.
