Coloured Text

Will's little Howto guide.

Hex codes.

You need to type the full text command for this. I'll give a couple of examples.

/s \#ff0000 Help!

would give a red Help! in squad chat

/b \#ffff00 LFS

would give a yellow LFS in broadcast.

This doesn't work in local chat, and I'm not sure how many colours are available.

and don't even mention bloody macros!!! :p

I really hate em... fucking license to spam. Learn to type people, it'll serve you well in industry, I assure you :)

Heh, I'm sure they have a useful purpose too.;)

Sometimes its easier to press one key than type something out in full.

My one and only temptation to make a macro is so that I can spam "MAKE A BL**DY FAVOURITE!" while stood at AMSs' watching people sort their weapons out

Easier yes, more annoying, yes :)

I'd much rather see :

'/o hey xxx if you get a chance I could use some repairs please'

than

'/o need repairs'
'/o need repairs'
'/o need repairs'
'/o need repairs'
'/o need repairs'

any day :)

That's why you can turn off local chat. I find I get more response with a non-spammed message anyways.

Sigh.
Repairs.
Hmmmmmmm.
I remember once after I had struggled to get my AMS close to the thick if the action (it was rather battered by the time it was deployed) watching people at the equip terminal.
I hadn't at this point got an engineering cert so I couldn't repair it myslef (what a n00b eh?).
I waitied until someone took up an engineering kit and then politely said on local "Please repair the AMS, it'll be destroyed if it takes more damage".
I gets no reply. So I wait for another and try again; "Please repair the AMS, it's nearly destroyed." . Off runs the engineer and vanishes beyond the cloak.
A third one appears so I directly /tell xxxx Please would you repair the AMS before it is destroyed.
No reply, I do it again....he stops....withdraws his "tool".....and then runs off.
30 sesconds later....booooom! AMS dead, the battle for the tower is lost and all because... I DIDN'T SPAM OVER AND OVER "REPAIR THE FnCKING AMS YOU DOZEY CnNTS!"
Which probably would have had just the same result.
Next time (I STILL haven't got that Eng cert, too many toys to play with.:)..) I'll undeploy the AMS and leave it standing, after all it's done it's job and got me to the battle. Sod the rest of 'em.

This doesn't go for the majority of players, some will run up and patch up your vehicle if you scratched the paint when performing a "Starsky" slide over the bonnet. But I had to tell you about that "memorable" occassion where I wish I had had a macro set for just that occassion.

As it is, I just use "/macro hello \#ff0000 /o Hello Peeps" when I log on, and one set for "AMS at my location" which is usually my corpse.

I use macros, but that's normally because I'm careering along and don't want to have to stop to type "GET OUT OF MY F*CKING WAY YOU IDIOT! RUN AT THE SIDE OF THE BRIDGES, NOT DOWN THE MIDDLE!"

Normally I type repair/heal requests though.

Woahwoah. Doesn't work in local? thought it did.. Always worked for me..

Afaik, the colours don't work in local. I could be wrong though, I've not tested local at all.

LOL will :p

I've seen coloured macro text in local, so I'm sure it does work.

Thanks for that - time to make a rainbow of "GET OUT OF MY WAY, JAYWALKERS!"

i use macros when im flying or driving squad mates around. all it says is " BAIL OUT !!!! " in bright red colours. Any decent pilot should have this because squad mates dont seem to get out when gal/sund is heavily damaged and still taking damage. :)

Usually haven't got much time to type out a request to each engineer, and you'll get the attention of more potential repairers with the macroes, rather than being specific.

Yep coloured text works fine in local, use it on my macro to make people run away from me............... Stand Still I'm a Medic!

Heh, repairs. If I have my nanite-gun in hand (whatever did those poor little nanites do to deserve shooting :( ) I'll gladly fix all and anything.

People do just think of you as a repairman and not a player though. The number of times I've been gunning in a turret, taken damage and then got out to repair it ... only for somebody to walk up and get in it beggars belief.

Really lost my rag the other day and laid into the guy. So, Custer, if you are reading this ... my apologies, but do it again and I'll go CrazyHorse on you!!
