Looking at having the 'going out' bit of my stag night in Cambridge. Anyone know of any decent places?

Musts:

- No dress code
- Good music (Non-commercial indie/alt-rock or hard-house/intelligent drum and bass/techno/trance. Anything live a bonus!)
- Friendly/mellow crowd
- Ideally open till 2 or later

Must nots:

- 4-to-the-floor generic house music. No no no......
- Music policy should not mirror that of Capital Radio e.t.c......
- Agro bouncers
- No meat-markets please!

Any tips much appreciated, even if they are not an exact fit for the above.

In cmabridge...youre screwed, nothing there fits that descrption at all, only the boat race would have fitted your description but that got torn down.
Unless.... the man on(in?) the moon pub has any gigs on or possibly the corn exchange has anything on. 2 venues for live music. The junction also does live stuff so check them out... but I must ask, why cambridge? if I were you I would look somewhere else for a good night out!

junction webby:

Also apparently the kambar does some indie nights too and stuff

oh and the portland arms is a nice pub for that sort of thing too....

Hope that helps!

The Kambar's a hole - I don't really want to just be negative, but it really is.

Purely because it's quite close by to where the party will be spending the day. It's either that or head into London. Which, judging by your response(s), might not be such a bad idea.

Cheers for the info!

London is only about 45 mins away by train so it might be worth it mate, sorry to rain on the parade but Id rather you had a good time! That said there are still plently of bars and pubs which are pretty good.

Having been born in London and living there most of my life (Only begrudgingly moving out in order to live in something bigger than a shoebox), I would have to agree with Journaldo on that one. :)

London it is.

Thanks again for all the info.
