Well my CS is currently default and I am aware of those commands Yuck

I am confident it was just CS being lame and random, it often does that.

I still dont believe that configs can affect things that much anyway, but I dont know really

Just downloaded it... and erm.. all there is, is Music.. some Classical type... no Movie....

Those settings DO make a difference, just like they do in Quake. As it says, the cmdrate setting is the same as maxpackets in Q3, andso should be set the same, or as a divisor of, your fps. The updaterate is like snaps in q3. My fps is 60 all the time, due to luvly xp, so I set my cmdrate at 60.
The snaps figure however I had set at 40, which did fuck all to my ping but brought the net graph latency figure down to roughly half the scoreboard ping (Ngraph figure 30, sboard figure 60). Setting it to 20 for single channel isdn however, as recommended by Savageuk, brought the Net Graph latency figure up to the same as the scoreboard. There was no choke or loss in either instance, but theres no doubt that for me the game played better with udaterate 40.
This isnt some kind of witchcraft, nor is it cheating. Its just getting your game to run right. Something ive been interested in since the q2 days.
If you have adsl or cable modem and your still running at the default rate 3500 you really need your head testing.

Well I adjusted to the "old style" cs as soon as there was a new style, if you get my drift
Also got all my rates on those recommeded settings and it "feels" so much better. And I hit where I aim afaik.
