Cleaning

HELLO

I opened my case for the first time in ages yesterday, and was greeted by a disgusting amount of dust. Now I guess this can't be healthy for the PC, so how would I go about cleaning it? Dumb question, I know :)

I decided using a dust would be a bad idea, as it would build up shitloads of static and something may break

Other question is, after leaving my PC on all weekend it reached the dizzy heights of 44oC at one point, which strikes me as a bit hot. As soon as I took the case off, it dropped down to about 33. Is it worth buying one of those Zalman heatsinks and putting some fans in?

Compressed air, use it to blow dust off stuff with the case open.

The heat thing; if it's stable, don't worry.

What's an easy way of getting hold of compressed air then? seeing as I don't have any to hand

A technical style shop of some kind. Maplin sell it, I'm sure Tandy would if they still exist, you might even be able to get it from Halfords or a place like Beatties.

I've never seen any of those shops anywhere near me :/

Anything other than compressed air? :|

As Scooba says, compressed air works well and don't worry about that temp.

you can also get special lens brushes from camera shops that have a balloon on one end and a horse hair brush on the other, a lot safer than compressed air which has moisture in it. I assume thats the system temp that is 44 degrees? if its your cpu temp you have nothing to worry about.

Wimps, I used my Dyson and vacuumed it all up, taking all the bits out and vacuuming them
