cleaning TFTs

the screen on my lovely little iBook is getting very dirty, and needs cleaning. short of going out and buying 'cleaning tissues' that are probably baby wipes or some shit, i was wondering if there were any good household stuff i may already have around thats good for cleaning them?

If you still have it, the manual will tell you the best way to clean your TFT. If you don't want to buy any specialist products, a soft, clean, slightly damp (lukewarm water) cloth is usually a safe bet, but you should really double check with the manual and/or website. Never use domestic cleaning solutions or other types of chemicals on the screen unless you have been told specifically to do so.

I use Windolene and soft tissue (kitchen roll). Apply the Windolene to the tissue not the screen, so as not to get goop under the surround.

You can also buy a spray solution for spectacles that is excellent for cleaning monitors as well. Its non-corrosive and as long as the cloth you use (kitchen roll works fine) hasn't got any dust or dirt particles on it , it won't damage the screen.
