If they're nerfing things after the light whining that went on about Hasten, Superspeed etc. I can't bear thinking abou the hell that will be unleashed when that sodding expansion comes out :(

When does this expansion come out? I might consider buying it if I can be a bad guy.

Not that I really know what I'm talking about, as I acquired the game yesterday, but it's never stopped me (or anyone else for that mather) before in the forums from speaking.... :D

I did browse CoH's Forums, tech forums to be more precise, cause I felt I had quite a lot of network or such problems. Character kept blinking from one place to another. For eg. I ran down the stairs only to get teleported back upstairs and running in to a corner. Looked like client and server couldn't sometimes come to any sort of agreement where my char should be :p It seems that it's something that happens to others too, and it's called rubberbanding ;)

Anyways, I saw people with a lot of problems with game crashes etc. It looks like they still have a lot to polish with game issues and I personally would love to see them first focus on that before going out and assigning developers to start building a new expansion. Expand only when you got a solid product.

I believe they've looked into a lot of the crash problems, and have said that out of date gfx drivers cause the vast majority of the crashes.

As for rubber banding- other games get that too, and I've not actually had it a lot in CoH. It is pretty annoying when it does happen though. It's often a feature of anti-lag client-side prediction code. The client updates your position based on where it thinks you are, sending updates to the server but not waiting for confirmation. Mostly the server agrees and everything is fine. Every so often (due to packet loss or server load quite often) the client and server will get out of step, and the client has to default back to the servers concept of what the world looks like.

that rubberbanding is annoying, but i prefer it above the lag from daoc. At least i never walked into mobs because i always get teleported a few steps back instead of lagging into the distance.

Well all online games have their lag issues, I've played plenty of them. But what I've seen so far in my couple of days, it's worst in CoH than elsewhere. It can actually get to frustrating when you need 5 tries to get through a door/stairway (and one isn't even gargantuan sized :D ) ... There's gotta be some cleaning up to do. What happens as the user amounts rise all the time (well atleast I hope the game is success). Anyways, just my 2 influences ;)

I have no lag issues what so ever.

Maybe you have a bad connection to the servers.
Have you tried different servers?
Half of the servers are on the eastcoast and rest are on west.

It is annoying, but if you're getting it all the time there's something wrong with your connection. I VERY rarely get it, and even then it's just one jump, not half a dosen. It's not really a server side issue, or it would affect everyone, and I don't think it does.

hmm, could be my connection, usually im also uploading with max speed (nerd dc++ and friends that always want mp3's) and that makes my connection very slow, so that could be the problem.

That is almost certainly your problem. 99.99% certainly. Upload will totally kill gaming. Don't.

You can download at a reasonable rate without getting much lag. Upload at all and you'll kill it. It will certainly cause rubbanding issues, since updates from your client will time out before they've got past the queue to leave your machine.
