I've installed this lately as I'm sick of Firefox taking up millions of RAM, and I'm now quite getting to like it.

Does anyone know however, if its possible to force the "find in page" function to stay on the screen, as the same feature does in Firefox? Or if there's an extension that does a similar thing.

Firefox only takes up loads of RAM if you've got a dodgy plug-in installed. I have 5 tabs open, currently using about 100Mb.

When I tried Chrome it seemed fairly poo, and took up just as much RAM but did it in separate processes.

I honestly think you have failed with your decision.

I'm with Tom, I don't use dodgy plugins but it eats RAM like I could never believe possible. I have six tabs open just now and it's eating 300Mb - and that was after a recent Windows update and reboot.

19 Tabs 208Mb, just I can't stand Google and I doubt i'll get any advantage but each to his/her own.

Although like most it doesn't give it all back to quickly once tabs are closed.

I liked how Chrome looked and acted on occasion so I made FF look like Chrome, and added addons to get Chrome functionality in FF (paste and go, single stop/refresh button etc). I am happy and the RAM usage isn't excessive - currently 5 tabs and ~160mb. FF is just too functional (with addons) to ignore though, I tried Opera and Safari but they just don't do it for me after using a customised FF. :)

My FF uses between 100 and 150mb, not excessive at all. That is with quite a few plug-ins and 4 tabs open at any time.

I'm on 3.5.7, noticed that 3.6 is out - will try that and see if my memory usage gets better.

Also even if it uses 200mb of memory, I don't see a problem with a modern PC. I have 4gigs of ram sitting mostly unused unless I am gaming, and I multi-task a lot. but even on my laptop with only 1gig, FF using up to 200mb is no big deal.

saying that it does depend on how you set FF up, and your plug in choices. G, 3.6 is slightly better.

Although a few months since I last checked it out, Chrome had extreme difficulties with certain networks and IP v6 seemed to blow its brains out. Yes, I know IP6 not in common usage... yet ;)

Still, some nice interface features on it :)

My only problem with chrome was that I couldn't run Quake Live on it.

Going from 3.5.7 to 3.6 has taken me from 115mb with 6 tabs to 85mb. Pretty decent.

Chrome is very fast. Some nice themes for it too. Still seems a bit threadbare though.

Chrome seems to win on speed at the moment, this along with recent extension support makes it the obvious browser to use at the moment.

I'm happy to see competition in the browser market. Chrome's insanely fast rendering and javascript has forced other browsers to improve, otherwise they risk losing market share.

Chrome is shit. If you tear everything out of a browser of course it'll be faster.

For me there are just a few minor annoyances. One is that I can't select and then drag and drop text in an editor window. Another is the bookmarks should be on the left, not the right. And another is that the "find text" function is a bit poor.

Other than that I think its fine.

Running FF 3.6, 9 Addons and personas themed. 100 meg. Decided to to hit 200 meg, managed 17 tabs. 18th throw me over the 200 mark.

A memory comparison between the 2 isn't posible. Chrome will run addons in its own memory space seperate from the browser. This in its self is a nice feature and Firefoc say they will have it soon, but means you should realy add in the memory useage to get a proper representation of how much memory you use when loading and using Chrome.

I do like chrome and for low spec systems I will install it as the default browser. But as am old and set in my ways I'll stick with FF as it does what I want it to do and I like it.

Gonna take your advice on this and bin some plugins, Firefox is eating obscene amounts of memory for me at the moment. 6 tabs open and 372mb in use, a few days back the greedy bastard gobbled up 800mb!
