Are you ashamed of your history, or why are these people given so much room when they obviously have no intelligence what so ever.

i dont see why this is a problem or an issue, and why you'd want to downgrade anything, or be mad at muslims or any other culture or religion,

For me it all very much look like a case of "falls aproach"

If you within a country have a growing minority "of a substantial size " and the a new "need" emerges from it, like f.exp Islam in Europe, then why not adopt "in this case" the major islamic holiday into the calender ? I see no reason what so ever to down grade the major majority holiday, that just seems a rediculouse thought.

Economic reasons perhaps? You also have a large population of people that are hindus and sikhs, and also a pretty big jewish community. If you adopt islamic holidays, you have to consider these too. Otherwise it's discrimination, and these groups will be left and feel marginalized.

Christmas has nothing to do with religion, atleast not anymore. It's just a big fucking commercial hype and a little of a social/family event. Atleast it gives a good picture of the western 'culture' :D

islam was just an example mate, :s hence the "f.exp"
but sure you'd need some form of "lower margin" or "bar" or you'd have to consider every bum and nut with a "religion" or "belife"

but yes, it would be a field filled with political landmines, so dono how it could be brought to practice, but as i said, at least here in DK muslims "and other religions" have the right to thier religiose holidays, even tho they arent concidered national/bank holidays, but they get off work and thier kids off from school, and there are tutor groups for the kids to catch up on the lost school day, so at least here in DK it works somewhat.

Christmas shouldn't be celebrated by those who are not Christians anyway.

Why not? Christmas has evolved just like everything else, it's more national holiday/tradition than Christian celebration for most people these days. I think it is the way it should be as this allows us all to celebrate it in the same way.
I saw program last year and they showed a whole lot of British people from different ethnic groups all celebrating Christmas and although they didn't celebrate it quite like Christians did, they did celebrate exactly like I did.

I'm not really sure how to word it its still just a mass of stupidity floating round my head I'm sure but my point kinda is, I know I as an agnostic person don't celebrate 'Christmas' as a Chrisitan person does, I merely celebrate December the 25th just because I was bought up that way. If I hadn't of been in a family which celebrated it because of my religion(or lack of) I would never have celebrated 'Christ'mas. Same goes for Easter etc, its merely a tradition that will always be around due to the Christian nature of the country, but with a massive influx of newer religions and growing of them Christmas may likley suffer as a Holiday and the amount of the country that devote themselves to it.
But anyway I still enjoy all the family gathering and drinks and parties as much as the next person but I do think something is being lost even if I can't word it properly ;)

And this is exactly why we shouldn't downgrade Christmas.

The solution if there has to be one is to upgrade all other religous festivals and give us more bank holidays

I would love for some one like Sky One to take £1m to Saudi Arabia and build a big fuck of church and then start complaining about how things the local do offends them and see what happens. Catching the church burning and the people getting kicked out would make great TV and prove a point.

The new wave of unnaceptable TV should revolve around religion, I agree! Definately a niche in there

I do not have all the facts, but here's my view.

Do muslim countries like Iraq, or Buddhist people all get up and say "oh shit guys, we got them Christians and Jewish people here, lets not have our holidays advertised everywhere incase we annoy them".

Most places would say "if you dont like it, fuck off".

It's part of England and a majority of people's "growing up".
It's the same as a Man Utd football fan going to an Arsenal match, then complaining that there are Arsenal fans everywhere, with their flags, songs, pictures etc etc.

People cant jump into a pond, then cry when they get wet. Fuck off if you dont like it.

Or a manager going to the arsenal ground and complaining the ref is biased?

There's a very easy way these people can get Christmas downgraded.

Go take their money they got from us for free to the local shops and spend money on their holidays instead. Christmas is huge because of the commercial aspects of it. If they can't create the same kind of commercial impetus for their holiday, then sorry that's not our fault.

If there was money to be made from advertising <insert holiday here> then you can put your house on the fact you'd get mass marketing hysteria for their holidays as well.
