So I had to but a new tree this year and some lights, so yesterday i set up the tree and put the lights on to ensure all bits were present and that it fitted together and that the lights worked. Now I did this with the curtains drawn so the neighbours would think I was sad, once I was happy it all worked I put it in the garage (saves taking to down again).

So when is a good time to bring out? I was thinking I would run my decals from 1st Dec to the 1st Jan this year, what do you lot think are good put up take down dates?

Whenever the stripclub decides to *nod*

Seriously, anywhere in the december axel of things should be fine.

I personally would prefer 23rd up, 26th down.

As long as it's not outside december.

My parents always said it was traditional to put them up 6 days before and take them down 6 days after, or something about the 12 days of christmas (not honestly sure myself), and terribly unlucky to do otherwise, but I guess it depends where you come from as to what tradition to follow :)

Whoever came up with cutiefying the word "Christmas" to "Chrimbo" should be taken outside, stripped naked, nailed to a rocket ship, and fired into the sun.

Back on topic, the correct time to put up Christmas decorations is on Christmas Eve, half drunk, stuffed full of junk food, approximately 45 minutes before you stumble into the tree, knocking it over, and incurring the wrath of your wife.

Why waste all that fuel getting to the sun? They will burn up in the atmosphere.

Mad guess - it was the Ozzies.

Imo leave em up into the new year, new years day etc all part of the same holiday shit. Strictly speaking, 12 days of christmas runs from Christmas Day thru' till the 6th. The spanish and proabaly other southern european nations give out their presents on the 6th.

In our house at least was always relatives staying over into the new year and nothing would get took down till they went.
