Every time i reboot my computer, I will run chkdsk on the D:\ drive i've let it do it at least 10 times now but it persists on doing it every boot. Its annoying. Does anyone know what could cause this or even better, How to fix it?

My specs are:
XP1800+
768mb DDR
ECS K7S5A Mobo
Geforce3 Ti 200 128mb
IBM 7200rpm 80gb hdd

Any help/advice would be great. Thanks.

Bah :(

I've had the same problem on my laptop were it would reboot, chkdsk, reboot, chkdsk forever, there is a solution I just can't remember it :(

Have a look on Google search for 'looping chkdsk'

Good luck!

Thanks I found this however, I dont have that software but I looked at that registry key, and its there BootExecute set to autocheck autochk *. My question is, is it safe to delete this key?

Ah, on re-reading your post, I see we are talking about seperate issues

Mine involved my machine becoming unusable as it would chkdsk reboot over and over and not have anyway to get into Windows.

I've looked in my registry and I have no BootExecute option. (Win XP)

I recommend exporting the key (Right click the BootExecute tree and select Export) then delete the chkdsk key. If you have problems just run the exported file and it will put the deleted stuff back in again.
