China have set up a censorship committee made up of teachers, university scholars, foreign affairs officials, information industry engineers and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The committee will monitor games whereby any games not portraying China in an 'accurate' light will be banned.

Project IGI2: Covert Strike, has been the first casualty, for incensing officials by its portrayal of the Chinese army.

"Online games with content threatening state security, damaging the nation's glory, disturbing social order and infringing on other's legitimate rights will also be prohibited," said a Chinese Ministry of Culture statement carried by the official Xinhua news agency.

Thats why Americas Army never went public in Russia, after all the opposing force always carried Russian weaponry and wore similar uniforms, while portrayed as terrorists. Yet, it wasnt "censored" per say, we just had no way of buying the game offline.
Im in China right now, trust me, by the looks of things .... this censorship will be hard to impose and keep up :) For hardcore fans of the game (if such exist) go to Guangzhou and take a ferry to Hong Kong, you should be able to find it there and get it back to China.

PS: amount of propoganda on television here is astounding btw.

Problem is how far does the censorship go? They mention covering up sexual images to avoid harming the people, but the committee being made up of the older generation, could ban hundreds of games for very minor things?
