tldr version:

betfair offered a promotion that even a drunk monkey could make monies from, betfair later realised how stupid their promo was and DIRECTLY TOOK MONEY OUT OF PEOPLES BANK ACCOUNTS after it had paid them out.

People who got their money out, and betfair couldn't take it back via douchebaggery now have a negative account balance and locked accounts until the amount is paid back.

super tldr, betfair offered people free money, people took it, betfair stole it back.

I think that's the problem here, both sides are probably in the wrong. Betfair for A, not understandings its own promotions and then using the "spirit of fair play" crap and B, handling this in the way they have done, they should have taken their cock up on the chin and moved on. The people who took advantage of this obvious cock up and abusing the offer are also for blame, if it looks to good to be true then it usually is.

What I don't understand though is that apparently Betfair are taking back all winnings, including original stakes but not paying back losing stakes, surely they can't get away with that???

It's a shame really, I am not a huge online poker player but I play now and again on Betfair and Ladbrokes, I think in future I will just stick to Ladbrokes though. The have now been put in the rogue pit on Casinomeister which is pretty damning for a poker site.

It's a shame because with the right management betfair could easily be 3rd right behind stars/ftp in playerbase right now making 20-50x what it does, and all because the management are money grubbing retards who can't see beyond the next quarterly report.


Betfair will continue treating it's poker division like a red headed stepchild as profits dwindle over time and really is it any surprise when you treat your customers like you're a hooker turning tricks with our wallets while we're in the bathroom.

I and many others have left betfair in the past over similar shenanigans - while your poker division probably blames the decline overall in the poker market instead of it's own godawful decisions in terms of sponsored pros, tourney/sng structure and awful treatment of players while they piss away their player base.

Anyway rant over as nobody deserves to be lambasted personally over a company decision on FH
