This game is getting as bad and as old as an old Rocky/Sylvester Stallone movie ^_^ ok comments please as it happens :p I hope next year is not the same, which ever team progresses in next year's in the champion's league. I am getting bored of it and frankly don't care who wins any more. Jose has gone, it's going stale. Time to rejig the draw imo :)

Wonder what Joe Cole has been smoking, first he tried some ninjakick on an obvious scoring opportunity then he did the worst dive I've seen in quite some time and was surprised he didn't get a free kick? WOot

well has been a rather... dull... game. Shock horror. I know, that is a major newsflash :p

Hopefully the goal will make chelsea be more offensive in the second half, but I doubt it, unless Liverpool get a second I cant see Chelsea pushing too much. Game is much as expected so far. Everything down the middle where it is conjested.

Alonso has been the best player so far, passing it around quite well and looks most comfortable on the ball out of everyone. Good vision on the quick freekick even though Kuyt cant cross.

The goal... lucky and scrappy and poor defending. It something I would expected to see up the other end. Still credit for liverpool as they were under the cosh at the start but kept plodding along till they got on top. However now they be even more defensive I bet... forgot Torres and Gerrard were playing for most the half.

Think Kuyt did very well with the goal. It was horribly scrappy in the buildup but the finish given the pressure being applied impressed me.

If only Tom Hanks would give his Academy Award for best actor to Drogba

He clearly deserves it way more than him..

I bet all those people who slagged Riise off saying he can't score this season are feeling pretty silly right now!! Not as silly as the ginger muppet himself obviously...

Gah,

Onwards to the bridge then..
Think 1-0 was a fairer result given the performance but that's football.

Glad to see Terry proving what a pathetic twat he is once again tho. Best deserved yellow card ever!

Ouch Riise, that one is going to sting for a while.
Own goals hurt bad enough in themselfs. But something this important, 5 mins into the OT. Glad it's not me.

/edit
Had a friend who scored an own goal when we played in france some years back. He completely freaked. Wouldn't let anyone come near him for like hours. The goal didn't even matter, we were behind like 5 to 1 ^^

Only scored 1 own goal myself in all the years i played. I usually didn't get close enough to our goal for that sort of thing :p But the one i scored was a beauty, got goal of the year and everything. When i fuck up.. i do it in style ;)

Chelsea are an embarrassment to world football, and this is a neutral speaking.

Calamities all over the place, Drogba at his diving best once again, Terry being the pikey he usually is, every defender trying to kill Torres.

And on top of that, being so extremely boring to watch.

If Chelsea can win the Champions League then football loses, not just the other team.

If you are in an offside position and start going for the ball, which he did then backed out, then it's offside

Never saw him go for the ball..

tbh linesmen these days probably couldn't tell you what the offside rule is so the chances of any of us being able to tell what counts as interfering with play is pretty unlikely..

I reckon the Babel offside call was 50/50.

He doesn't actually go for the ball. But disturbs the defender, which means he has an effect on the play, and thus actually offside. But did he interfere enough to be an actual factor? The ref didn't think so, hence no blowing of teh whistle.

This season certainly that's 100% not offside. I don't really agree with the rule but i've not seen a single descision given all season for an offside where someone didn't actively move for the ball, even if they were a factor in how the defence played. In fact unless you actually touch the ball it's pretty much a given it's not going to get given.

I've seen a few calls that made use of the newest offside rules this season. Many refs will hesitate to use it though. As it's often a very thin line between offside and not offside. No referee wants to get scolded for calling a wrong offside... on a guy that didn't even touch the ball.

I think they should simply change it so everytime someone plays a ball forwards a big electronic coin gets flipped on the scoreboard and if it lands on Tails you get called offside no matter what your position is.

At least fans can then understand the rule..
