I did a complete reinstall a couple of days ago.

since then, when i launch the game, the "checking for updates" bar moves EXTREMELY slowly.

it is almost as if i am pressing the "do complete file check" on every log in.

anyone have any ideas?

*edit* - i also just noticed i am getting the "elua" boxes appear every time i log in... i dont remeber them popping up everytime before though...

When you un-installed the game did you remove all the sub directories...then reboot before you re-install?

also have you been on free shards recently?

disable windows indexing, if it's on. Dunno where you can find that tho.. maybe in the admin panel, maybe with one of the power toys..

When i say re-instal, i meant a total windows wipe and re-instal... of everything

And i have never played on a free shard in my life, wouldnt know where to start tbh.

It is prolly the windows indexing service, as i've said above ^^ :X

a part of that is found on:
Control Panel -> System Management -> Computer Management -> Services & ... -> Indexing.
or
Control Panel -> System Management -> Services -> Find & disable indexing.

Also, try to defragment ur HD's.

thanks, but i cant find what your refering to anywhere under control panel,

i am using windows xp home.

Regarding defrag... this is a brand new installation, as in... the disk was whiped and reformatted before windows was iinstalled.

Still taing forever to check the files before launch :/

Hmm

Ok.

found the "indexing" section for windows. it is disabled.

Still same thing happening.

The big clue is that i get the "Accept the elua" box every time i log in, so something somewhere is not "saving" the fact that i have loged in before...

Did you burn camelot to a DVD/CD, format, reinstall windows and then copy it back from your burn? If so then some files may still be in read-only mode. Just right click on your top level directory , turn off readonly and then apply to all subfolders after clicking apply.
