Cheater's server

Why can't a cheater's server be started, all the cheaters can go there and cheat to their heart's content. Access would only be allowed by actually detecting a cheat on their computer, having no cheats would get you banned (for not cheating).:D

Can you imagine spectating on such a server? Watching 18 guys with awms all shooting at eachother from their respective spawn areas? LOL

Anybody caught playing on such a server would have their wonid noted and be banned from all normal servers. It would be a spectacularly effective form of flypaper.:eek6:

because cheaters dont want to play against cheaters, they just want to massage their ego.

They play non cheaters so they can win. after all, why else would sumone cheat? Obviously cuz they aint good enuf to play the game without cheats, so they need the cheats to be better, and compete with the rest.

Cheaters server would just involve ppl trying out cheats and coming onto normal servers and then playing. Also, a cheaters server, ppl would join itjust to flame the cheats. Good idea imo, but it is a bit silly and a waste of a good server.

only good side i can see to having 1 is u could go in under cover and catch the cheaters, But still, bit pointless :E

Yes, was posted on BW news page. they setup like 4 servers for this. Guess it mkight be a laugh to see what happens when everyone is blatanly using hacks, but i don't think it would prevent cheats, as the serious cheaters who stay uptodate to avoid cheta detection software do it to make themselves look good.

Hey, i think this is a good idea, let people spectate the people who cheat on this *cheat server*, using various kinds of cheats, and see what they do.. so, when people come off the *cheat server* they will know what the cheats look like...

good idea or crappy?? lol

The general gist (not jizz) of my post was that detection software would not allow any non-cheaters in the server, and that those who do get on the server would be noted and banned from all other servers.

A big fly-trap.

Why? The main argument against the anti cheat is that the cheaters just alter the cheats so they won't be detected. In the meantiime though many cheaters will get caught, and they'll have a hell of a time finding a new cd key. Or they will have to buy a new copy of hl.

How many of these banned players will actually be able to do this? I'm betting not many. I guarantee that a cheater server would catch many cheaters out.

Cheaters cheat so they can be better than other players and hit the top of the scoreboard, not so they can play other cheaters and just be average. The very fact you're talking about means they know your idea and thus won't join such servers any way ;)

Heh, give them all the same cheat... then the one who wins can be crowned 'King of Cheats'!

I personally hope that HomeLan are just using it to expose as many cheating hoes as they can & just permabanning them on all their other servers.

Uhhh.

Yeah right , sure a cheat is going to join a cheaters server.

Battle is right about why they do it. I suspect any such server, though it would be a complete waste and sit empty virtually 24/7 would catch out about 1 or 2 people

I reckon a lot of cheaters would. I think they fall into 2 categories:

1) The newbie player who finds cs too hard
2) The skilled player who finds cs too boring

Number 1 would not necessarily know about the purpose of a cheater server, many of them would join anyway for a laugh. Also, there are some stupid people in the world, and I would bet that a lot of these cheat programs allow transmission of personal details through a firewall like zonealarm (using the same port). I bet this is where a lot of cd keys come from.

Would it not be prudent for Valve to recognise that many cd keys are floating around the net, and issue secure cd keys to all registered players? Microsoft did this with SR1 of Office 2000; anybody who upgrades office to SR1 with the pirate cd key will find that elements of Office stop working. You can actually read about this on their website.

Maybe for a small fee (say £2-£3 per year) we could all be issued with secure keys? Then participating servers would look for this new key, and refuse access to anybody with an old key. The old key would still allow the user to play halflife, and the offline mods, and selected non-participating servers.

When you consider the amount of time most cs players spend online, a small annual charge for increased security is excellent value. What do you guys think?

No, not really. It's very easy once you know where to look.

It's fucking shit idea. Simple as that.

I'm sure homelan's servers were full for about 5days, with people coming on to see what it was like when everyone could blatantly cheat however they wished. I'm sure everyone who went on for a laugh, and everyone who were actual cheaters all got bored quickly. The only use of such a server would be for good players to get praccy in :0

But back to the point, it's a wank idea.

True, but i thought the keys CD-Key genz that gave keys were for playing on HL, and could not be used to play any HL mod online?

CD key generators are wank, and they don't work.

Hey I'm not the one who looks like a monkey!:)

Seriously though, what about the secure keys idea? Or am I just hopelessly optimistic?

i agree with no.1 but wouldnt it be more boring knowing where everyone was and have a script shoot them for you?

when i get bored with cs i just add alcohol or dope, actually improoves my game most of the time, and before anyone says it, i know it wouldnt be hard to improove my game

i just wish ya could have seen me in my old q2 days, as these days i have trouble dbl jumping never mind killing anything
