While playing on Barrysworld CS server 17 213.221.174.7:27037 today, this guy, [blatant]admiral_cheatalot, was living up to his name and doing precisely that.

Here are two very short, but sweet demos (150k each), and a screenshot of his w.o.n. id.

Having a look thnx, in future please get an admin asap from irc.barrysworld.com:6667 #barrysworld. Its a lot easier when we can see the action going on live.

I was afraid the guy would have been and gone by that time.

I did actually go onto irc after I took the demos, but I found the admin to be quite unhelpful. He simply didn't want to know, and refused to look at the demos saying "I only ban people I see".

Well, that's what the demos are for, so the admins can see. I think you will agree. There is no room for argument about this guy being a cheat.

The admin I spoke to gave me the impression that Barrysworld don't care about cheaters on their servers. This cheater was ruining a lot of peoples' fun, because he had an unfair advantage over the rest of us. Actually, he was on my team, but that doesn't matter.

Barrysworld need to stand up against cheats, it is destroying this fine game we love so much.

It would be better aswell if your admins were a bit more friendly, as they are usually the first point of contact with the public.

Thanks for your help, and I hope you enjoyed watching the demo as much as I enjoyed catching him.

Sounds a like typical barrysworld if your name fits situation.

Iv'e been on servers and tried to report people being tits, eg ruining the game for all, but iv'e had little joy in the past, and like you had people in irc basically turn a blind eye and tell me to go away if not totally ignored. But on the same day, same server iv'e seen mr admin come calling on the server and kick people because they have been called by one of the m8's who the admins are all to happy to help out. Iv'e been in this exact situation about 4-5 times, it kinda blows.

Who are the admins, is there a list anywhere? I think I've only ever seen one, and I play at least twice a week on BW servers.

I've found admins for bw TFC server's to be very helpfull you just have to know who it is thats needed and send them a privavite message about it .

Even if you don't I still get a response when I just ask for a public server admin .

Put them in either your HL or cstrike folder (i always put in my cstrike)

Launch CS or HL and opent he console and do:
playedemo demoname

Or you could get Geekplay which lainches demos on double click,
forget the url though.

I think hes not lying cos i saw another guy with exactly the same tabs and admitted openly he was cheating.
Talking of hunted y arnt any of the servers working.

Okay I suppose you want a resolution to this?

Well I viewed the demo and the bloke being recorded is blatently cheating. However, and please read this before getting angry, after discussing this with the game liasons it has been decided that we can not ban this indivdual.

Now please listen to the reasons why:

1) To bann admins need to see the offender with their own eyes at the time of the incident.


Now Mappy did a very good job with the demo and got a screenie, however there was (and without suggesting that Mappy would do such a thing) no evidence during the demo that it was a BW server. The screenie is from a different map from the demo. Its very difficult to ban with proof like this, because if we did it would set a president where people could come and fake demos to be vindictive and to try and get people they didnt like banned (see the post re, Kurt_angle and his enemies).

If you really can get an admin please do a /status in the console WHILE you are recording. This way when an admin watches teh demo later they can do /status in the console to get the server status :) This way we know that the demo was taken on a bw server, with no vindictivness.

Now as I said Mappy did well, and he hasn't wasted his time, we have this won id now and can watch out for this cheater. Sorry we cant bann on the evidence given, in future please, please try and get an admin from irc -it makes our life easier, and doesn't leave you feeling like we are not banning cheats.

Cheaters are only banned when an admin sees them in the server. This is why it's vitally important to get an admin whilst the people are in the server instead of getting there WonID's / Demo's / Screenshots.

This is due to the fact that there are people out there that, if we did ban people based on Demo's, that would abuse the system and attempt to get innocent people banned.

I take your point about there not being a /status shot during the demo. Yes, the screenie was taken on the previous map, and I understand your reservations about people and their potential vindictiveness. The evidence is irrefutable though that this character was on the Barrysworld servers (from the screenie) and even though I forgot to do a /status in the console, do you really want such a blatant cheater (which you can tell from the demo), on your servers? I know that you are not suggesting that I was in any way being vindictive towards someone in this case, and I also understand that there are those out there who would stoop so low as to do such a thing.

I didn't contact Netgames about this guy, nor Jolt. I didn't even ban him from our own servers. Barrysworld is where he was playing, so that is who I contacted.

I am simply a CS player who is sick to the teeth of these guys (aren't we all?), and I'm only too happy to take a demo (which I realise must be totally conclusive, leaving no doubt whatsoever) and pass it on to the appropriate admin.

I myself am an admin on the UK Terrorist servers, of which we have 4, so once again, I appreciate that the evidence must be totally rock solid before a permanent ban can be enforced. I'm a bit longer in the tooth than some of the CS players around today (being 29), so I'm really not given to the sensationalism, or taken in by the cries of "W0t @ ch3@t1ng b@st", which I see on servers all the time. Catching a suspected cheater is a case of patience, watching closely and biding your time, recording a demo that will catch him in the act. Without such evidence, there should never be a ban.

I can only give you my word that I would never try to get anyone banned from a server who I was even 1% doubtful that he was cheating. I only bother with the lamest of the lame, because these are the people who really ruin the game for everyone else.

The demos are great, and we have all had a good laugh at just how blatant this guy is. He's a cheeky sod and no doubt about it.

God help him if I catch him on our servers :D

All I would say to you guys is to be careful not to send out the wrong message to cheats.

Thanks again for your help and time. Sorry it didn't result in a ban this time around, this guy was enjoying himself so much, he is a natural cheat, the kind who can't enjoy a game without cheating, and he'll be back.

And the demos really are funny, they are helping me rebuild my collection of cheater demos, which i misplaced :)

Anyway I hope he does come back :)

Heh heh, looks like everyone isjumping on the Ch3tan bandwagon.

Heh with the demo I suppose the only way would be to record via tv out?

They did something similar at www.summerblue.net (go to games, cs and cs top secret), where he recorded his game as it happened through tv out. No way I know to actually convert a .dem to mpeg or avi but then i'm no graphics guru.

Also guys there is a new channel for barrysworld, its called #bwadmins.

Basically what happens is all admins for BW on all games that are on irc sit in this channel. If they are on duty and willing to help they will be opped (have the @symbol next to their name), otherwise if they are off duty or not paying attention they will only be voiced (+ next to name). If you have a game problem, reporting a cheat tker etc, go into #bwadmins and state:
1) the game name
2) the problem
3) the server
4) offenders name
If an admin is online and available you will get a reply a lot quciker and with far les abuse than envoutered in the main #barrysworld channel.

Afaik the admins list is being updated so u know who to look for in this channel.

The number of times this happens.
Demon seem pretty good when I reported a cheater. They said sorry but I have no proof. Which I didnt then someone else emailed them the same story 2 days later he was gone :)

I understand what rules you must follow but its like british laws. I get recorded nicking a dvd from a shop. All I gotta say is my hands were full, and I was going to pay for it.

I had same problem once on a BW server and he was TKing. This guy wouldnt stop. Admin arrives and so I tell him. All of a sudden the guy has a tounge and starts talking. 'No I wasnt, Hes lying!'
So how do you explain your score?. Oh I just keep killing myself by mistake. FFS man its obvious, everyone said he was TKing.

Admin says well lets stop this arguing and enjoy the game. Exactly how many ppl have BW banned?

Not having a dig, im just stating facts.

Err we bann loads of epopel everyday, for various offenses.

Today alone I have had 3 wallhackers. And thats just me, all the admins do their job.

I had a demo submitted today and banned based on it, the player used status so i could determine the server etc.

You cant go on hearsay word of mouth or any non conlusive proof.

The bloke banned on deamon for instance, how easy would it be for me to complain with no proof and then get a mate to abck me up? If you cant see my point then you can feel hard done by, if you do see my point then you will understand.

I understand but in this occation it was pretty obvious. I just know the guy would be smiling to himself.
