Cheap Spiritmaster template

Having been inspired by the excellent Healer template that was possible with just quest items and SC stuffed I thought I would try designing one for my Spiritmaster (Ethanol Distiller) who recently dinged 50.

Unfortunately I could not find a decent staff that dropped from a quest so I put in the a "common" drop from Eramai (the cloudsong mob). It certainly isn't the greatest staff avaliable so I would hope that it could be purchased cheaply, however if anybody has a better/cheaper suggestion that would be very nice. The staff however does glow blue which makes it really uber. :worthy:

I also had trouble finding a decent second bracer. I have included Jergersunn having been informed you get it from an SI quest but I didn't find much info on this.

I made sure I got 10% bonus to casting speed which I assume would be the most important ToA bonus for an sm. I also got 18% powerpool bonus and a nice overcap in piety. The downside to this is the resists aren't the best.

If I have missed out anything important please tell me as I am new to caster templates. I am working on the assumption I have done something wrong as it was so much easier that my warrior template! When it came to quests VoS is not as brilliant as it normally is and so some of the items I have picked might be wrong. If you spot this please tell me

I'm pretty sure you are using pre-nerf stats on the Sun-Scorched Helm and the Sun Ruby; look it up and you will see they give only 2% to casting speed now. Also, you make poor use of the SC armor, I am sure you can do better (aim for max overcap on all items).

Thankyou Belomar. Looking at other sites it seems that the Sun ruby only has 4% casting speed and SunScorched hat 2%.

When you said I make poor use of my SC pieces, I am slightly confused. Did you not notice I was actually using some 99% stuff? Although its not perfect (as I wasn't sure of the items) I can't really see being able to get much more out of it. However as cloth is cheap I might upgrade them all to MP depending on what items I get.

Khazar, as a supp sm I assumed that spell range wasn't the vital thing for me. This is going to be a cheap template and most of the spell range stuff is on ML drops or artis. I can only really get one significant ToA bonus and still cap most things so I thought casting speed would be best?

So now I need to look for another couple of items with +casting speed.

sun ruby has 2% cast speed, all non-artis were reduced to 2% (VoS is out of date )

it might have slighlty more stats on it though, but do the quest and find out, its a nice quest to do anyway (i have the shammy version )

I would do the quest but I can't play DaoC atm . I am away from home and my laptop is just not powerful enough to run DaoC (not even SI only). The problem is the only time I can make decent templates is when I am away from the game and actually think about what I need rather than buying crap off the CMs all the time or doing arti raids for things I haven't heard of.

I have had a look at the quest items and I think these are all correct! However I haven't got them all yet. The staff is a quest item which has 2% casting speed although will only 42 focus levels be a problem? Also do I need more in darkness?

42 focus will indeed be a problem--you will use more mana for all spells above the focus level of your staff (I forgot the exact percentages now).

Just go to housing and buy the ml9 staff from Nelos. It costs 100 gold. Named: (forgot the name but it has: 2% castingspeed, 50 spell focus, 9 piety cap, 10 powercap, 21 piety or something like that)

Some comments:
Well your template are lacking some things and could be fixed up pretty easily with extremly cheap items if you want to. (alot of the ml9 items are down to just 100 gold or so nowdays) Combined with questitems that can give a really cheap and very nice template for next to nothing in cost.

What you should try to get higher are: dexcap, powerpool, and maybe abit in hpcap if possible.

(Ill see if I can wip up a decent template that should cost you less than 2p including sc:ing) (most lvl 50s should be able to get that))

Oh this is for suppsm spec, if you are darkspec switch the extra 2 in darkness for 2 extra in suppression on the arms.

ps: Those were the prices when I checked them anyway...ofc they prolly wary up and down abit. But if you really need something you cant afford here send any of my chars ingame a message and ill see what I can do to help ya!

If you want to pick the template up a step further with about a 10p added cost then try adding in Tartaros gift (5% spell damage + mcl 2 charage) and Gem of Lost memories. (1 Messblock charge and 2% range/damage on it)
