Anyway to automaticaly turn this on when you log in ?

Also is it fixed to the "L" key, ive remapped this to torch so currently have no means to turn logging on or off (cant see a way to remap the logging key in options)

You can remap the chat log key in your keyboard config either on the options screen on by typing /keyboard in game
