Character Selection..

Was reading Noita's thread on the midgard forum, and someone mentioned not being able to see your character when you get to the character selection screen..

Now, I can't ;o And i was wondering if theres anything i can do, to get the model up

Any advice would be helpful

Ive heard someone say that reinstalling the game should remedy this. Cant confirm it myself though.

Well.. now none of my characters are showing up at all, even on the left hand side of the screen. Yay.

Also, no 'create new character' thing.. so I think my chars are still there, I just can't select em

And I actually pay for this? :\

Any drivers or software installed recently that you know of? Cause that should be the only thing that would cause something like that to happen.

Other than that, GOA must have put a small patch on and maybe that has broke it.

Try RightNow if you haven't changed anything, but they are probably going to tell you it's a video driver problem or something.

Haven't changed anything recently, just logged on today, spent 2 secs ingame, ld'ed, then can't get back on :\

Just re-installed, and it's getting stuck on the patch update screen

Seriously, would try RightNow, and mention the fact that you aren't the only one experiencing the probelm...

When e-mailing RightNow, include the spec's of your PC, including the Driver version's of your graphics and sound cards, Operating System, Memory, Processor, Motherboard model (and BIOS version), Graphics card model, Sound card model, and DirectX version.

Then maybe RightNow can build up a profile of what might be causing the problem.

if you have a radeon 8500 GFX card you need to alter the z buffer some how to make the menu work properly, but i cant remember it exactly :/

I had this problem..

my isdn account down so i had to play on my old 56k modem.. i couldnt access the char selection screen..

I tried reinstalling... updating G Card drivers... Dx8.1 etc etc

No Luck....

then when my isdn isp started working again everything was fine.... really strange

... suggestions in there... the freezing at the patch screen was the loss if connection at GOAs ISP I expect, hence unrelated.

That was me - basically if you cant see the paper doll image of your character in the choose your character screen it means your not in 3d graphics mode.

If your PC previously worked with Daoc then you have to ask whether you changed and settings recently, loaded up any new drivers etc.

If a new driver caused it go back to your old one.

If not try downloading a new driver and keep your fingers crossed!

Oh yeah - check your graphics card still works on other 3d games just in case it has just died on you rather than a daoc specific problem.

Try quicklaunch, therefore avoiding the character selection screen.
