Character Selection Screen

Hi all,

I recently purchased a new computer and ive just installed DAoC with no problems, i downloaded the patch in a few minutes and nothing went wrong. I logged my account in and chose "Prydwen" hit play and it took me to the character Selection screen.

Now heres the problem. When i hit play in the character selection screen the screen freezes for 30 or so seconds and i cannot see the mouse Cursor. The music is still running in the backround so it hasnt crashed. After 30 or so seconds i am still on the Character Creation Screen but the mouse cursor appears, but the screen has frozen, but i can move the cursor. I cant quit play delete or change my character. When i try to Alt + Tap, or Ctrl + Alt + Delete nothing happens, ive even tryed hitting the windows key, nothing...

This is the third PC ive played DAoC on, and this is the only problem i have seen.

Any suggestions?

Tried downloading direct x 8.1? otherwise i don't know i am affraid sorry.

I already have Directx 8.1 I have a custom built PC with the latest stuff on it, so i am very supprised it isnt working.

I have seen this happen to me before I think. However, I can usually Ctrl+Alt+Del. Nothing seems to happen but try tapping enter after you've pressed them and it should terminate the program (the close program dialogue is there but you can only see the DAOC screen). If this works check your internet connection : I normally find the reason is mine has dropped after I've connected to the server but before I hit play.

Failing that, all i can suggest is downloading recent drivers (sounds like you already have them).

I have un installed the game and i am re installing at the moment, hopefully the problem wont occur again.

When i double click the DAoC icon it ask's me for my CD - Key, i dont input it as it isnt needed, you can just press okay. This may be the problem, if it is i will have to ask RightNow for my CD key as ive lost the booklet

Do you run ZoneAlarm?

You gotta press alt+y or ctrl+y or something to say "yes" to the pop-up from it to allow the daoc.exe to connect to the internet.

Also try switching drivers for your gfx card, if you got the newest, try an older version and vice-versa.

There is also another thing you can try, send me a private message and I'll explain it to ya, cause I think it might be against the CoC for DAoC

Problem solved, all i need to do was download the lastest Driver from nVidia /em slaps forhead
