From the VN boards, very interesting http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=55777928&replies=102

Personally I think it's a great idea, SBs then can spec in a weapon that their attribute increases merit. I have suggested H2H spec before.....

Edit: or maybe the ability that some swords are str/dex and some are str only. Thus people who have spent a fortune on crafting/tg weapons are not royally shafted.

hmmmm

No matter what one tries to implement this late in the game, it will have effect on templates and so on.
In any case, a choice should be given if a change is made.

I think it's silly that Midgard doesn't have dex-based weapons for Shadowblades. Also, might make some Kobold Warriors happy :)
And I could respec my Valkyn Savage from hammer to sword :)

But I agree that it would be bit bad because of all SC gear and then people would end up respeccing weapon.. Perhaps it might work if some weapons were str and some were str/dex.
Some (Troll) Skalds would probably like to be able to use str-based sword also. Sword has best parry styles I think so Skalds might not be so keen on respeccing to other weapon.

you can kind os understand tho why some sword types are dex (rapier? stilleto, might be wrong i dont know a lot aobut alb weapons) cos you poke people with them in soft places.
axes tho, grrr - hulk smash!
can you see someone poking you with an axe?

Stilletto and what ell's you mentioned aint swords , they are fencing weapons , swords are hack and slash weapons and not ment to poke peopel with.... and I think dex based axe's would suit a SB just fine... its the WAY he uses the weapon..not that someone with big muscles once used a semilar weapon to cut down a tree that matters...

theres really no logic within daoc...

take for example a chain wearing class that climbs walls and has safe fall.........

That's nothing compared to seeing a Troll warrior fully laden with chain mail, shield and weapons, and a full inventory having a nice swim! ... shouldn't they sink like the stones they are?? :p

There`s no logic at all in most things in daoc ;p

and axe is heavy, yet requires a nibble person to swing and perform fast actions with that weapon

not only that but the "butt" of an axe could be used as a crushing weapon.

A sword on the other hand can be used to slash a target. or jab a target.

hell wit enough force you could probably ram a staff through someone`s head ;p

the weapons in daoc are very basic in how they function.

But what i do know is that it wouldnt be hard for mythic to make sword/axe function using str/dex as the weaponskill determining stats for SB`s/Hunters only

yes give slash and thrust swords so when speccing to sword you will not only have choice of 1h or 2h but damage as well. And the double speccing in albion is fair...:(
