heres the problem:

atm, my 17 inch monitor is broke which plays at a 1280x1024 reso for daoc.

thus i'm playing on a small monitor (for the moment) that can support 600x800.

Problem is, i managed to change the reso. on my old monitor to 600x800 before it finally packed in and all was merry. But the new game.dll which i downloaded changed the reso. back to 1280x1024 and i'm unable to change it because there is like 5 daoc screens on one screen.

So, what i wanna know is, can i change the reso. without actually going onto the character screen or am i d00med?

Go into your user.dat file in the base toa/cata's folder and open it with notepad

find the lines

screen_height=768
screen_width=1024
(Or whatever the resolution is)

Change it to

screen_height=600
screen_width=800

and save

wallah!

You can edit the game resolution in the user.dat file without logging into the game. However I'm not convinced the splash screen and character slelect screen will display at 800x600.

just had a look hope this works;

goto your folder, user.dat open in notepad, about ten lines down you will see this:

screen_height=768
screen_width=1024

hopefully if you change that it might work, otherwise you will need to wait til you get a new monitor or borrow one to change

toa and SI clients are 800x600 on the char screen but catacombs is 1024x768...

If you can get some virtual desktop software or something that lets you scroll around in windows and run in windowed mode you might be able to get in... bit of a long shot though.

Aye but if you auto log the chars on it should automaticly resize when you log in?

I wrote an application to do this on the fly at start up, posted the link in here somewhere a good few months ago, though everyone was paranoid that it was a haxor program to steal your account details.

https://forums.freddyshouse.com/showthread.php?t=53033&highlight=launcher

still, i think Gamah might of used it and I aint nicked his account yet!

Actually what i was thinking of doing next with it is to allow you to store all your character settings in a central location (windows network/ftp etc) and copy them down to whichever pc your playing on, then back update it after you finish the game.

Oh and also converting it to asp.net

can also just delete the user.dat file and start the game, ofc will need to redo all settings then, but its still an option
