All things icon related...

Right, I know that there are registry patches to change icons, but is there a way to back up icons in this way.

If something gets reinstalled, or if the application changes, then the icon goes with it, and I'd like to be able to restore them easily. Any guidence on where to look for this? And what to do if I find it?

Also: Running Office 2000. Shortcuts to Word etc. wont let me change the icon. Is there an easy way to get around this locking?

Thank yous as usual :)

personally I use a couple of useful programs to deal with all my icons

1. Microangelo

allows you to change pretty much every single Icon anywhere (with the exclusion of the Drive Icons (HDD, CD, FDD)) as well as change icon cache sizes, clear the icon cache etc.

2. Stardock IconPackager

does everything that Microangelo does and allows you to change the Drive Icons.

I use these programs to change icons this includes customising my Office 2000/XP and 2003 icons.
