I've asked around but no-one can give me a decent answer. Who thought up the idea for this Celtic Team? I'm not saying it's bad, just I don't know why England have been stuck alone whilst the rest of the British nation have head West

The anwer to your question is that Jekill put a posting on PS about a combined Irish/Scots/Welsh team. That was the first that I heard about it.

I thought since I hadn't heard anyone else talking about it that I'd sort it out. When I got in touch with Jekill about it, he told me that he'd already been approached earlier in the day by -KT-Torque. I spoke to Torque about it later on, and he said that I was welcome to help out, so I started sorting out the website and things that needed starting off straight away.

And that, my friend, is how the Celtic Tribe started out!

Seemed to be general concern that there were insufficient players in Wales and Ireland to raise a decent team. The Scots also had their concerns clearly, so the idea was born of that.

England have been lucky enuff not to be in that predicament.

You could turn that around Alco!
Would the Irish, Welsh and Scots want to play for an England team?

Only j/k btw

As I see it, there is no harm in separating the nations like this, as England does have a lion's share of the Tribers compared to Ireland, Wales and Scotland combined.

As Zenith said, splitting the UK was just an effort to equalize the population that the teams could draw from.

I was approached about an Irish team initially, but there was a concern that they would not be able to form a decent team. It was suggested that Wales and Scotland be added to the mix and I agreed. We already have another combined team (HK, Singapore, Malaysia) and this request was not unreasonable.

The goals of the TWC are for fairness and good competition. That is why this decision was made and also why the US is split into two teams. I am trying to foster good competition.

It was nothing against England at all.

<humor>I know a guy at work that's English and he acts just like the rest of us and you couldn't tell by looking at him. Maybe I wouldn't want my kids to grow up to be English... but I have nothing against them.</humor>

. TBH the celtic nations should be able to put up a strong team, as should England, and this way ensures that more ppl get to play at least. <Alco heads off to post his thoughts on Jekill and the England debate>

I thought the USA had 2 teams to double thier chances of winning, but I spose there are lots of tribers there.

The US team was split to divide the talent. Otherwise, I think the team would have been overpowering. We almost split the Canadian team too but delayed that decision a bit too long. Therefore, I actually think the Canadian team will be stronger than the US teams. We'll see I guess.

Since it's double elimination, each team will have a chance to beat up on several other teams so there will be enough bragging rights to go around I think.
