OK my missus needs a new phone, preferably pay as you go. Any suggestions? or any webbys that rate the phones/deals? I don't want to spend too much as she is quite likely to lose it/leave on roof of car/drop etc.

Ta muchly.

Depends what she wants to use it for. Is it for people to ring her and for her to call out in an emergency? If so, then just get a pay as you go one that's as cheap as you can find.

If she wants to use it normally, then go to somewhere like carphone warehouse (preferably with yer missus) and tell them how much you want to spend and when the phone will be used.

Kenny, I kinda figured that much out already m8 :)

What I'm after is the lowdown on the phones. For example we used to have T28's, they both went fuxored, apparently a known fault, except I didn't know.
She will have pay as you go, but wants a cutsy phone, but I'm not prepared to pay £200, ideally less than £100 would be good. Battery life is quite important.

Well my current phone is a Nokia 8310. V small and easy to use. I hear they had a problem on older firmwares but I've not encountered any problems with mine.

Battery life is good. I can leave it on standby all day and send the odd text and make quick phonecalls and it quite often never loses even one bar on the battery monitor.

The Nokia 3310 is pretty good, but I imagine it's been superceded by now.

Having run a CELLULAR phone business of my own 10 years ago I would tend to differ :)

Let me explain, a phone in a car is a car phone, the old brick suitcases (if you can rmember them) were transportables, and small portable phones are mobiles. They all work on a cellular network.

Lesson over....now were's my apple? :)

Can't beat Nokia for build quality or software. Ericsson's have better sound quality though.

Nokia would be good, her old phone is a nokia and she's got one of thoses ciggy lighter handsfree/charger doobies (its crap but she likes it. Also I have a 6210, with a proper full car kit, so she could use it in my car (only when I'm driving of course).

OK, so probs a nokia, although there is a sexy little sony/ericsson. Best place to get a deal is...?

When deciding which network to go for, first is to consider on which network the people she is most likely to be speaking to, and get the same one.

Most mobile to mobile calls accross different networks, are very expensive and often don't count against free calls either, so ensuring you are on the same network can save lots.
