CD-rom gone spako in win2k

my cd-rom has gone fucked in win2k

i had it working fine with aspi drivers
but of late it's gone absoloutely rooted when ripping cd's (audio catalyst 2.1)

i've never had this trouble before and neither has anyone i know using win2k

anyone have any ideas???

athlon 900
256mb ram
40x ide cdrom
