CD key number

ok im new to Q3 as normally im a cs guy. i got a problem. when i attemp to join servers it loads up all as normal. Then just before the actual gam comes on it asks me to input my cdkey number. so i do and it says thank you then i press ok only to find my self in the main menu screen of quake 3. What am i doing wrong?

does that happen on all game type? I know i get that problem with the FFA servers but I can join CTF and Freezetag without a problem.

Ok try this,

Load up notepad, and simply type in your cd-key, then go to file and save as, and select your baseq3 folder as the folder to save the file in, then type in the filename as "q3key" (with the " either side of it) then click ok, and if asked to overwrite just click yes. Once you've done that, go to the baseq3 folder, and right click on the q3key file, select properties and tick the box to make it read only.

Then try play online.

Isnt that a problem with the early version of the 1.27 patch. 1.27g i think? i used to get the same probs anyway and was advised to upgrade to 1.27h et Voila! all my probs fixed.. well all Q3 ones anyway, dont expect it to pay off ya overdraft or anything

Well guys thanks a lot for ya help. But after playing quake 3 for a week ive decided a few things. firstly it is not anywhere near as good as CS. But it has better people playing it. CS is the best game ever but all the public servers are full of ass holes. However in quake the game aint as good but the peple playing are good and friendly.

Which means im gonna have to live with the ass holes and stick to CS. cya
