Anyone using a CD Emulator ?

I have a number of games that I want to run on both my PC and the kid's PC, but its a pain having to swap the CDs needed.

I've been using a trial verison of a CD Emulator (here) and its working quite well, at least for BF1942, NWN and Civ3.

Anyone recommend one they use ?

Daemon Tools is pretty good. I've only really used it for mounting iso images when I can't be bothered burning them, but it should work for a legal backup too.;)

Though in hindsight, its not quite what you want, though in the manual are links to programs for creating images.

Its amazing, so many people see these programs as illegal ways of copying, but they have handy legal uses too. Nothing worse than a scratched original CD.

Which begs the question...

OFP fade technology, i hate changing discs but was wandering if daemon bypasses this FADE stuff... I mean i havent actually seen FADE at work, for all i know its a crock of bull.

Neways, i have the originals, would be cool to know.

I don't know to be honest, never tried it. I have seen Fade in action though, on my legal version.

Don't worry, said Codemasters.
It's not fucking working any more, said Will.
Codemasters went quiet at this point.

All sorted now though.

Thinking about it, it should be possible, if you create a 1:1 copy to your HDD and mount it with Daemon Tools. I'll test it out and get back to you, I'm sick of swapping CDs myself.

Easy as pie, you need DDump (unsure about direct linking), and Daemon tools. Any problems with backups, let me know, it should only take about 5 minutes. If its struggling, look up fastdump in the Daemon Tools manual.
