So far it seems the only complaint is the gfx, apart from that everyone seems more than happy with this expansion.

Better PvE environment, quests and rewards especially for the 30-49 bracket, much needed.

The only thing thats putting me off is the minimum requirements for a machine, my BB runs on my poor ol laptop (1.3 Centrino, 256Mb ram and NVidea chipset) which struggles now, I do hoep theres a "minimum use" button like ToA has, havning blown another £500 on my main machine alone.

Well, lets hope it runs better on laptop than ToA does. I have IBM T40 laptop and DAoC sucks on it. Just about useable for my buffbot, but don't get more than 10 other players on screen at once of the slowdown is aweful. On the other hand WoW plays absolutely marvellous on it. So good in fact that sometimes I don't use my desktop, but play wirelessly in front of the TV.

For graphics, Blizzard > Mythic by a long way imo

Cata does seem to be a good expansion, but once again Mythic are releasing an add-on that no one really wants.

Why introduce new PvE stuff when 80% of PvE areas in DAoC are deserted?

People want PVP in DAoC, no-one really likes the ToA grind, ml grind, arti grind...who wants to lvl their 7th lvl 50 toon, get ml's, arti's, lvl them, get SC kit etc just to get to NF rvr, especially in Europe where our servers are about as reliable as a Ford Cortina?

I like it, i think i'll play it, but im not in the majority.

they released catacombs to entice people IE new people to play the game if they did more PVP then new people would log in go where is everyone and log off.

Catacombs is designed to give noobs to the game a chance to actually group up with other noobs without having to power level a druid/cleric/shaman bot first :)

catacombs makes it fun to level alts again :)

the new zones are nicely laid out so you have obvious group forming spots (think avalon city south entrance) plus no worries about camps (find an instance)

so hopefully there will be groups again for levelling ;)

the new graphics are cool :) a lot of screenshots have buggy old beta stuff or are taken by people that go "wah I can't have the exact shade of light teal I had before and my sideburns are shorter" (which is a valid complaint but feh)

new classes are different and interesting - also mostly self sufficient (bainshee isn't a great soloer but it can survive)

Why Bother with DOAC at all?

See the copy I sent below, all relevant I'm sure everyone on Mid/Exc will agree. :(
Dear Doac Support,

I am not being funny but if a character requires ToA gear or just wishes to go PvE in ToA would it be fair to expect lag/delay to be under 6 seconds. I will assume your answer to this is yes, if so please feel free to let me know why it is basically impossible to game there. IF I DO NOT RECEIVE AN ANSWER THIS SIDE OF CHRISTMAS I SHALL BE ENDING BOTH MY ACCOUNTS AND WILL TRY TO GAIN A REAL LIFE HOBBY LIKE PONDERING WHY WOULD YOU RELEASE A NEW PATCH (NF) AND BE PLANNING TO RELEASE CATACOMBS WHEN WHAT ALREADY EXISTS IS TOTAL RUBBISH (REFERRING TO ToA ON MID/EXC). Apologies for caps, just noticed.

Very much doubting I'll get a reply.

Isn't the level grind probably the biggest or 2nd biggest complaint most people have? The other one being ToA grind, of course. If Cata gets rids of the pain of levelling, doesn't that solve half of the biggest gripes people seem to have atm?

They didn't need to add new areas. It could have easily be done by * by 2 or 3 the xp given by mobs and quests.

there are alternatives for xp-grind (powerlevel ><) not for toa shit

yup :< once you reach ml10 with 1 char on a given server, all your chars should get one or two free masterlevels, lets say randomly so ppl would organise hard raids after doing one... or something, ml-raids were so boring the 2nd time :<

Which would give players just starting ML's a harder time as there would be fewer lower ml raids, swings and roundabouts.

I'll def give catacombs a whirl, new content is always nice, and fun to explore.
