Casters and spell crafting

Well ive been playing around with my spell crafting template for quite a while now.

But i have a question for people:

As i caster i cannot decide wheather to cap my melee resists.
My current template allows me to cap the following:
Power
Hits
Con
Int
Dex
as well as capping magical resists, and having a dual focus staff into the bargain.

Should i aim to cut back a little on the con, hits,power in order to cap out my melee resists?
Is it worth it, because most likley if a tanks hitting me im either going to die or get healed.
In both cases melee resists seem unimportant.
I do not believe that it is possible to cap everything.
Therefore as there is no more i can add i cannot decide what should be dropped/lowered in order to make the change if one needs to be made.

On a side note does anybody know where the most comprehensive item archive is, so i can search fpor things that give int and dex and it give me a list of items?

I want to cap my con dex and maybe int as far as stats go. Dex and int are already pretty high for me, even with my 5 points in Empathy...

For resists, I'll ignore melee ones and focus on magic. If something is whacking me I have to rely on my spells to get me out of it; I can't just stand there laughing as I get hit for 12(-324)...

Mind you, I don't have more than 4plat across all my chars. :S Time for TANGLERS!

do melee resists acctually do that much?

what sort of dammage reduction would i get from having capped melee resists?

i definatly need my int capping because as a cabalist my dot dammage is directly linked to my int.

if i dont need to cap mele resists them my templates all done nicley. If melee resists do need capping then ill ned to have a big rethink.

good question, maybe its better to cap your magic resists since capping melee will only mean it takes 3hits instead of 2 to kill you
i'd go for say 15-20% on all melee resists

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you know the variuos caps? I know there is a resist cap of 26%, but what about con, int, hp, dex? There is a hard cap around 300 for these but, how much can you get with items?

+75 is max to each stat.

Though I can't see the reason of not getting +11 body atleast, Tilda. What's your stats?

Oke, I've also been busy. I like my epic robe too much to drop it, so i tried to take into account. Allthough it isn't listed in the program and you can't remake it exactly.

Some remarks:
The arms need a 1000+ spellcrafter, I also don't have the 100% qua item yet, others are all in my vault. Some items are not overcharged, some with 1 point and one with 3 points.
I shelved 2P for a 100% qua staff and in the end I'm almost not using all those imbue points because the focus doesn't take any points at all. I also want a tri-focus staff because I hate switching the staff for power reclaiming with a pet and I use matter and body both a lot in RvR. So I end up using one slot for LOADS of points, almost to the max. +7 body doesn't overcharge and +8 overcharges alot. If all gems are 100% the chance to failure is 30%, but I think it will be less. It's one uber staff if I can pull it off.
I almost capped everything except the melee resist. I don't bother with those because I'm going to get longwind 5 ;)

umm its easy to add epic robes, change the button from player made to drop and then put all the stats in there.

a) getting +pow is a waste as far as I understand. there were some testing posted on vnboards some time ago and maxing pow gave 1-2 extra casts.

b) the way I figure, an encounter with a melee class ends in 1 of 2 ways; I CC and kill him from distance or he splatters me in 10 sec. Melee resists are thus irrelevant in comparison.

I am going to cap magic resists, hits, con, dex, int, have a 3-focus staff and some +5 windmagic.

I personaly think this is the order:

melee resists > magic resists > con & hp > other stats

* melee resists: if you cap 3 resists you get a lot less damage from all figthers, rogue's..

It helps a lot to survive, example: with 0 resist they 2 shot you, with max resist they will 3 shot you, so the healer has 1.5 - 6 sec more time to heal you.
With archers you can run outside there range before they kill you...
( and as a caster your prime archer target )


* magic resist: all none melee resist are magic ;)
But don't take matter and spirit resists
Only shaman and spiritmaster use it, and there are only a very very few of them.

* con & hp: let you take more damage


* other stats: you can have 1000 str or int, it doesn't help a thing if your eating grass...


At the moment I have 29 slash resist and 8 thrust/crush resist, and it is a difference like day and nigth.

Btw if you use 99 qua cloth you could overcharge, it has a high chance to succede.

( wouldn't do this with chain/plate though becouse that will be very costly if it goes wrong while cloth is cheap )

short of for PBAErs with MOC, I'd say melee resists aren't a great deal of use for casters. Bear in mind melee resists also affects the damage you take to archers...

As a sidenote:

Was a note on Grab Bag of Inaccuracy a while back that Cons affects how much damage you take.

With /duel it's testable I guess.

no con on pets is actuall a booses absorb, con on players is acctually a hp's boost.

I have a MP suit and im planning to overcharage every bit of it :D

rubbish, ;) its been shown on the US that theres acctually VERY little chance of an over charging going wrong.

One person overcharged something so he has a 20% chance of sucess and managed it 1st time. :p

drop +power, up melee resists. +25 power is like 1 extra spell or less and it costs alot to imbue it (apparently). whats do casters die to 9/10 times? it aint magik. u get a 10% abs buff which u use i take it? how does a 36% abs buff sound? etc etc

take it from me, dropping ppl like tyka who have maxxed melee resists takes significantly longer than ppl without...

Recommened you put in what you wear atm then take away armour with under 50 utility.

Then try and cap stats with items.
Then finish off stats and resists with SC stuff.
Add your own items, not many are listed.
