I've bought my first car, previously I borrowed my Mums car as a named driver on her insurance.

Her car was stolen and shes making a claim.

The car was used that day by me.

Do I need to tell the insurance company that the previous car was stolen, even though I've never owned a car before/never had my own policy? I'm guessing no, but I don't wanna be refused insurance.

Thanks in advance!

I don't see why you should have to. Your mum will have to declare if she's made any insurance claims when renewing or changing provider but it's her policy, not yours.

If I tell them the quote rockets up by £600. I'm sure they'll say I have to tell them, its in their favour

The question is, have you suffered any claims, losses, accidents etc. Since you've never had a policy, you haven't suffered.
