Can't log into DAoC

I can't log into DAoC sice yesterday (lost a ML8 raid :( ). If I try to use quick entry (without seeing the character select screen), the game will stop at the "connected to service" message. If I don't, the game will let me pick servers, and load the game up till the character select screen, but no characters will apear (no "create a new character" slots either). This is true with the SI and ToA clients (haven't tried original client), and in all realms (tried Excalibur, Prydwer and Camlann).

Also, I can't load the http://www.camelot-europe.com/en/home.php website.

Has anyone the same problem? Has it happened to you before? Any ideas on how to fix it? It seems it has also happened to other people, so I'm not the only one with the problem (and thus, it's very unlikely that it has something to do with my computer).

Also, does anyone the web address of a web-based IP tracer? (I mean, the program that, when you enter a web address, it shows you when the connection stops, or if a step in the connection has a high ping, and things like that) Maybe that could help to find the problem, but I'd also need the IP address (or whatever the program needs) of the server DAoC contacts to read the characters in your account.

Hmm tryed turning your firewall off for a second or two to see if it connects then?

But if you cant connect daoc webby too i'm thinking it maybe a routeing/isp problem. :( ... not alot you can do if it is apart from wait.

sounds like a firewall issue, i would advise making sure you have DAoC selected for all options or turn it off as was suggested before.
if you are running windows xp make sure that the firewall is turned off. have you tried re-installing the client?

It's not a firewall issue for me either. Also, I tried to log with the normal (non-SI non-ToA) client, which was outdated (as I don't use that client anymore). Then, it tried to update camelot.exe, but couldn't. So it seems we have the same problem. :(

I'm from Spain. Bibi, where are you from? (checking if the problem is only happening in Spain, or in other countries too)

I have DirectX 9.0b. I think it's the latest one. And I could connect to the website before yesterday with no problems either.

Pinging the website works fine. 0% loss of packets, 392ms average time.
Tracert also seems to work right, but I'm not used to that program.

Here is what I got after using ping (spanish computer, ask if you don't know a word :p ):

Haciendo ping a www.camelot-europe.com [193.252.123.35] con 32 bytes de datos:

Respuesta desde 193.252.123.35: bytes=32 tiempo=394ms TDV=113

Respuesta desde 193.252.123.35: bytes=32 tiempo=391ms TDV=113

Estad¡sticas de ping para 193.252.123.35:

Tiempos aproximados de recorrido redondo en milisegundos:

Something to try is checking to see if you have the gaobot worm. This was preventing people from connecting a couple of months ago and was mentioned in the weekly news.
Symantec have an automatic detection and cleaning tool for it here.

They don't work like that. Either they're up and everybody can access it or they're down and nobody can. Another thing that might help is changing the the proxy server in your router settings.
I'd recommend doing a full scan for viruses and spyware too.

Virus and spyware check was done before i even started write in this thread ( panda platinium, updated 07.07.04 ). Gonna think about that proxy-stuff , but error still seems to be somewhere else .. not in my comp .... Then more , that im not onlyone whos having this problem.

PS! Thanx for trying help, Requiel. Nice to see caring GM :)

One question to Requiel. For those of us who are affected by this going to get the days we've not been able to log into Daoc added onto the end of our sub period?.

Also, ran a full scan and still no solution :(.

I aslo tried a full virus scan when I had this problem with DAoC and the camelot-europe site, but my computer had no viruses.

I've done a spyware check now, but found nothing important (just evil cookies), and fixed that, but it seems it had no relevance with the DAoC problem.

I used the anti-gaobot worm program, but it wasn't on my computer either. The "FxGaobot.log" file that the program created had this info:
Symantec Gaobot FixTool 1.0.17.0

W32.Gaobot has not been found on your computer.

Maybe it's also worth mentioning that the computer acts in a normal way and everything else works fine, including surfing the web (I can load all the web sites except www.camelot-europe.com ) and playing other online games.

I've got this problem too from behind my router.
I found my old 56k modem and tried that and I could connect just fine.
